Friends of Jacka Brothers Brewery

Friends of Jacka Brothers Brewery The brewery is situated at the base of the Mount Remarkable National Park. Mount Remarkable lies within the area of the Nukunu Aboriginal Tribe.

In December 2016, Dale and Michelle Hobbs purchased the Jacka Brothers Brewery located in the Southern Flinders Ranges in the township of Melrose, South Australia. The Nukunu name for the mountain was Wangyarra - ’arra’ meaning running water. The buildings were originally constructed as a flour mill in 1877 and in 1893, the flour mill was sold to brothers William and Joseph Jacka for the purposes

of brewing beer. In 1934 the brewery closed down due to The Great Depression. It was sold to the Slee family who have been the custodian for the past 83 years, where the buildings and surrounding land have been used for agricultural purposes. The vision of Dale & Michelle is to restore the grand old buildings to their original condition and to one day re-open the doors of the Jacka Brothers Brewery to the public. Follow the journey of the Hobbs family as they begin the restoration of this grand old building. For a historical overview, please see the links below:
