A heartfelt thank you to Epping Fire Brigade for kindly inviting us to be part of their Annual Open Day!

Despite the pouring rain, it was such a fantastic day filled with fun, interactive activities and wonderful community spirit! 🌧️☔️

A huge congratulations to the entire team for putting together such an engaging and enjoyable event. It was wonderful to see so many members of the community come along, get involved and show their support, proving that a little rain certainly can’t dampen community spirit! 🧡

Thank you again for having us and for all the incredible work you do to keep our community safe. We loved being part of such a special day! 🚒👏

EMERGENCY MARKERS – Plenty Gorge 🌳

With the warmer weather upon us, we’d like to remind our community about the importance of emergency markers when exploring our beautiful parks and open spaces.

Emergency markers are critical pieces of infrastructure that help emergency services locate people who find themselves in trouble while out enjoying the outdoors.

📍 How do they help?

Each marker identifies a specific location, allowing emergency services such as Ambulance Victoria and VICSES to pinpoint where assistance is needed and locate people more quickly. In an emergency, this can make a life-saving difference.

Unfortunately, some recently installed emergency markers in Plenty Gorge have gone missing.

If you see anyone vandalising or removing these markers, please report it to Parks Victoria as soon as possible.

Let's all do our part to protect this important infrastructure and help keep our community safe.

You never know when you or someone else might need them! 🧡

A fantastic day at Mernda Bunnings for the very first Meet Your Local First Responders event. 🧡

Our SES volunteers joined CFA, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria to connect with the community, answer questions, and showcase what we do. Days like today help build stronger relationships between first responders and the communities we proudly serve.

⚠️THIS WEEKEND BE STORM READY ⛈️
Severe weather is forecast from Saturday morning, with damaging winds and the possibility of severe thunderstorms.

💨 Strong winds may cause fallen trees, property damage and localised power outages.

NOW IS THE TIME TO PREPARE:

🔶 Secure trampolines, outdoor furniture, umbrellas and other loose items
🔶 Trim overhanging branches & clear gutters
🔶 Park vehicles away from trees
🔶 Charge your phone
🔶 Have a torch, radio and emergency kit ready

🚨 DURING THE STORM
Avoid travelling through areas with thick tree cover. If conditions become dangerous, pull over safely away from trees, drains and low-lying areas.

This week, our members joined VicSES Heidelberg Unit for an additional training night, participating in a multi-unit and multi-agency storm and flood event exercise.
These training nights play a vital role in ensuring our members and partner emergency service agencies are prepared to respond effectively to a major, widespread storm event.

A big thank you to SES Heidelberg Unit for coordinating and running the exercise. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to train alongside our emergency service partners and strengthen our collective response capabilities.

Our volunteers look forward to the next one! 🚨🌧️
