The Vice Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Mr Dimitris Tsilikis represented the Consul General at the official launch of the Hellenic Museum's exhibition, "Divine Thresholds: Icons & The Orthodox Christian World", on Friday, 28 August, 2026.

The exhibition explores the role of icons in Orthodox Christian worship. dating from the 15th to the 19th centuries; and following the history of their development through 137 objects from around Australia.

Serving as a bridge between past and present, and between the sacred and the secure, "Devine Thresholds" combines art-historical inquiry with an exploration of icons as living objects of devotion for over 300 million people worldwide today. 🌏

The Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Ms Dimitra Georgantzoglou was pleased to welcome to the Consulate General, Mr George Mpliokas, President of the Greek-Australian Society (GAS) on May 14, 2026.

It was an opportunity for the Consul General to receive an update on GAS' key initiatives and in particular regarding the GAS Mentoring Program and the GAS Young Leaders Program.

Congratulations to Mr Mpliokas and all the GAS team for their commitment to strengthen connections across the Greek Australian community.

The Consul General of Greece, Ms Dimitra Georgantzoglou was honoured to attend the 50th Anniversary Celebration of The Central Union on Pontians, "Pontiaki Estia', held on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The Consul General extended her warmest congratulations to the President and the Board of Pontiaki Estia.

The Consul General spoke about her admiration and contribution of Pontiaki Estia in preserving Greek culture and emphasised that the organisation is a vessel of memories, culture and tradition.

In particular, it was heartwarming to see so many second, third and even fourth generation dance members perform 'The Bell of Pontus'.

The Vice Consul of Greece in Melbourne, Mr Dimitris Tsilikis, represented the Consul General at the 40th Anniversary Screening of the historical dramatised documentary "Flowers of Remembrance". held at the Shrine of Remembrance on Sunday, August 30, 2026. 🎬

The film honours the legacy of the Australian soldiers who fought shoulder to shoulder with the Cretan people at the Battle of Crete, in May 1941.

It was an emotional and heartfelt gathering of many who had participated in the production of the film 40 years ago, including prominent members of the Greek Australian community in Melbourne. 🎥

Warmest congratulations for this inspiring initiative to the event organisers, and especially, the Batte of Crete and Greece Commemorative Council; the Pancretan Association of Melbourne; and the Cretan Brotherhood of Melbourne. 📽
