πŸš› A $26 billion promise... or a $26 billion missed opportunity?

As we head towards the State Election, every candidate for Ivanhoe and Bundoora should be crystal clear on one question:

Do you support strong truck controls to remove heavy vehicles from Banyule's local roads once the North East Link opens?

Right now, there is no guarantee that up to 15,000 trucks per day will be removed from roads like Rosanna Road and Greensborough Road.

Our community is enduring years of disruption from North East Link construction. We deserve the benefits that were promised: safer roads, less noise, cleaner air and fewer trucks.

Without meaningful truck controls, North East Link risks becoming an empty $26 billion promise.

Watch the video, share your thoughts, and let's make sure our local candidates declare where they stand before election day.

Avoid Jika street this am including Beverley rd.

Very distressed to see this serious incident.
A Bdouble turning left into Jika street clipped a pole and hit a pedestrian. Thoughts are with the seriously injured person. Driver assisting police.

We have got to get these trucks of our local roads. Anthony Carbines MP and Colin Brooks MP Melissa Horne MP are you hearing this?

Mercedes Court Park is going to be rebuilt next year. The money is set aside.

Dont miss your opportunity to contribute to it's design. Let's make it a beauty!!

Better still, get the young people in your house to contribute and have a say.

Locals please forward this to your neighbours.

πŸŽ₯ AJ Burkitt Oval – Final Update

G’day everyone,
Great to be back here at AJ Burkitt Oval - And even better to say we’re at the pointy end!

Over the past eight weeks, North East Link has been working through extensive testing and remediation, alongside turf specialists, to get this ground back to a safe and playable standard.

The good news, works are now complete.

The reserve will be handed back tomorrow to Council on 30 April.

From there:
πŸ‰ The oval will reopen to the community from 7 May after a final mow.

🌱 Some sections outside the oval will remain closed for a further week to allow the grass to properly establish.

Importantly, I’ll include a statement from North East Link regarding ongoing site safety in the comments below πŸ‘‡, so everyone can see exactly where things stand.

I also want to take a moment to give a massive shoutout to our volunteer committees who have shown incredible patience and leadership through all of this including Banyule Cricket Club, Kintala Dog Club, Banyule Football Club and particularly Ash Gibson, President of the Banyule Junior Football Club.

This hasn’t been easy but the community has stuck together.
Thanks again for your patience and I look forward to seeing this oval back in full use next week.

Banyule Creek – Update

Hi everyone. Council is aware of an erosion event at Banyule Creek near the Yarra River and are currently investigating.

🦺 Safety is our priority - the area has been secured. Please keep children and pets out of the exclusion zone 🚧🐾

πŸ” At this early stage, it’s too soon to determine the cause or what remediation will be required.
We understand people may naturally draw comparisons to the earlier sinkhole, however there is no indication at this stage, that the two are connected in anyway.

🀝 Council officers are working with North East Link and Melbourne Water to assess the situation.

πŸ“£ We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
