We're excited to share that the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation's National Kitchen Garden Awards is back for a third year.

The awards highlight the innovation, leadership and learning taking place through kitchen and garden activities.

The awards are open to all early childhood services and schools across Australia, including current Kitchen Garden Program members.

Applications are open until 7 August 2026.

Yesterday we celebrated the launch of the refreshed Healthy Places Healthy Futures initiative with over 70 government, health and education partners, highlighting the collaboration that underpins this initiative.

Good health and wellbeing for children and young people, leads to better learning today and a healthy future.

Supported by the Victorian Government and Cancer Council Victoria, Healthy Places makes it easier for Victorian schools and early childhood services to support health, wellbeing and learning.

Building on more than a decade of the Achievement Program, the initiative brings together all current and future health and wellbeing activities under one clear approach. It provides:

✅An effective framework
✅Practical action guides
✅Tailored support from over 200 local health promotion practitioners

We look forward to continuing to support health and wellbeing in a growing network of over 2,500 schools and services across Victoria.

This Lunchbox Week, National Nutrition Foundation has partnered with The Embrace Collective to create 'Lunchtimes Packed with Purpose', a free, evidence-based guide to help teachers navigate food conversations with confidence.

With around a third of a child’s daily food intake happening at school, lunchtime moments matter.

A big thank you to Overport Primary School for welcoming us to film at their school last year! We loved seeing how enthusiastic and confident the Year 6 Student Health Ambassadors and the Year 4 students were that day.

A shout out also to Health Promoter Kristen Young at Peninsula Health for supporting the school as they progress through the Achievement Program framework.
