Operation Stand officers continue to deliver as they crack down on recidivist and aggressive retail thieves in the Melbourne CBD and Yarra PSA.

Their latest catch is a 38-year-old Footscray man who is alleged to have stolen over $30,000 worth of goods from supermarkets, department stores and other retail outlets between October 2025 and May 2026.

Good allegedly stolen include vitamins, medicines, sanitary goods, perfumes/fragrances, baby formula and luxury handbags.

It's believe that the goods were then on-sold to a third party buyer.

The man was arrested in Carnegie on 4 June and has been charged with 44 counts of shop steal.

He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 1 December.

👑 This long weekend, Melbourne Highway Patrol are partaking in Operation Regal across Melbourne and Yarra.

🚨 Police will be targeting speeding, impaired drivers, distraction, fatigue and seatbelts and unauthorised driving – all major contributors to road trauma.

🍹 We will be out targeting impaired drivers – you should expect to be tested for drugs and alcohol anywhere, anytime.

🏎️ Speed enforcement will also be a major focus of the operation – police detected over 2,600 speeding offences during Operation Regal last year. Speed remains the number one cause of road trauma and fatalities.

Thieves aren’t looking for your keys - they’re looking for your OBD port to override your car.

Jindi Woraback (Join and Unite) 🏀

Over the weekend, we took part in the second annual Jindi Woraback basketball cup - a day centred on connection, community and coming together in the lead up to Reconciliation Week.

The event was organised by the ND1 Proactive Policing Unit and Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer Aunty Eva Jo Edwards, in partnership with the Koorie Academy, saw players from right across the organisation take on the Koorie Academy All Stars!

While the scoreboard didn’t fall our way this year (we’ll get 'em next year!), the day was about building relationships, breaking down barriers and strengthening trust through shared experiences. 🤝

As Uncle Ricky Baldwin said, this event is far bigger than basketball. It’s about bringing Mob and Victoria Police together in a positive and supportive environment.

A big thank you to Collingwood Basketball for hosting, Fire Rescue Victoria for coming along and supporting the day, and Rotary for putting on a fantastic BBQ for the community.

Congrats on your back-to-back win, Koorie Academy All Stars 👏
