R U OK Day 2026
Sometimes, a simple "How are you going?" can have a lasting impact on someone's life.

Before asking a friend, "R U OK?", take a moment to reflect:
βœ…Am I ready to listen genuinely and objectively?
βœ…Have I chosen the right time to check-in with my friend?
βœ…Have I chosen the right place to check-in with my friend?
βœ…Am I ready to accept if they don’t want to talk to me?

Our Youth Workers are ready to check in with young people. Are you?

"The art work is a tribute to the beauty I see in the natural world. Every morning I wake up early to see the sunrise. I do that because of all the sunrises I’ve missed. I believe it is common for us to want beauty in our lives to want to be given hope I’ve learnt it is difficult to find that when you seek it. I know you cant see the world through my eyes. So I drew for you what I see. I hope that when you look upon this art it inspires you the same awe that the sunrise inspires me."

As part of Council’s eight-week program of creative events, exhibitions and cultural experiences celebrating First Nations culture, Monash Youth Services hosted two interactive workshops attended by 34 young people.

Participants created their own canvas artworks while learning about Aboriginal symbols, storytelling and cultural traditions. The workshops also explored the significance of NAIDOC Week and this year’s theme, β€œ50 Years of NAIDOC: The Next Generation – Strength, Vision & Legacy”, helping participants deepen their understanding and appreciation of the histories, cultures and achievements of First Nations and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
