The Ascot Vale Branch of the Australian Labor Party is one of fifteen in the federal seat of Melbourne. We meet on the last Wednesday of every month at the Union Hotel, 252 Union Road, Ascot Vale. Sometimes we have joint branch meetings with the Moonee Ponds & Strathmore Branches. Being a member of the Australian Labor Party gives you the opportunity to have a say about the way the Party works. It also allows you to participate more broadly within Australia’s political system. Local branch membership requires you to join the Party at a local branch meeting. As a branch member, after a qualifying period, you will have a vote in selecting candidates to represent the ALP in state and federal elections and you can participate in local branch meetings, which are usually held once a month. All members can contribute to policy discussions and assist the Labor Party in winning elections.
