⏬️ AI was used to analyse the images below ⏬️ Australia is increasingly using AI animal recognition programs to analyse camera-trap images and automatically identify animals such as foxes, feral cats and native wildlife. Dedicated Australian wildlife-recognition systems report identification success rates of around 90–95%, with some exceeding 95%. What do you think of the below analysis? Is a Tasmanian Tiger without its stripes still a Tiger? Have you seen one? Would you recognise one if you saw it?

Something Came to Drink at the Dam… 👀
Just 11 seconds of thermal footage from a dam in the Australian bush.

An unidentified animal appears along the edge of the water — but what is it?

To give some real-world size perspective, I’ve included thermal footage of other animals that regularly use the same dam, including:

🦘 Swamp wallabies
🦊 Healthy foxes
🦊 Foxes with mange
🦡 Wombats

These animals provide useful comparisons for body size, height, proportions and movement.

So what do you think we're looking at?

Cat? Fox? Quoll? Or something else entirely?

Watch the comparisons, look closely at the animal’s body shape and movement, then leave your identification and importantly, what features you used to make it in the comments.

This Animal Appeared Out of Nowhere.....

Just 9 seconds of thermal footage.

An animal appears at the edge of the paddock, moves briefly through frame, and disappears.

No clues from me this time what do YOU think it is?

Look at the size, body shape, tail, movement and gait before making your call.

👇 Put your identification in the comments and tell me what features you used to identify it.
