Work on the Shepparton Line Upgrade is complete.

Our final works saw the commissioning, testing and completion of the line's new signalling system.

As part of the project, we also upgraded stations and level crossings on the line, as well as enabling VLocity trains to travel to and from Shepparton.

We thank Shepparton Line passengers for their patience as we finished these vital upgrades to pave the way for more services on the line.

🔥 The Shepparton Line Upgrade is heating up!

👷 Work on Stage 3 of the project is almost complete, with coaches replacing trains on sections of the Seymour and Shepparton line until Sunday 14 December.

🛤️ Since late October, crews have been carrying out signalling construction along the line, including installing trackside equipment between Seymour and Shepparton.

🚉 These works are essential to complete the new signalling system, which will enable more frequent services on the line.

🦺 We'll also complete safety testing of new infrastructure along the 87km stretch of rail line, driver training, and commissioning of the new system.

Have you spotted something new at Murchison East Station? 👀

Three sculptures have been installed following extensive planning, consultation, and design.

Each piece represents native flora unique to the area, including wattle, silver princess gum, and river red gum.

At the end of 2024, students from Nagambie and Murchison Primary Schools shared their thoughts on the new sculptures at their local train stations.

Having previously inspired the designs, the students joined a fun colouring activity and met the sculpture designer from our team.

They also received foldable train templates to decorate with their own designs.

When we found ourselves with surplus plants we couldn’t get in the ground before the summer break, we looked for good community homes where they would be watered and nurtured over the warmer months.

One of the new homes was the Murchison and District Neighborhood House. They welcomed some clustered everlastings and New Holland daisies in mid-November.

Jessie, who manages the House, said the plants were a great early Christmas present!

Landcare groups and community steering groups have also accepted plants.

All the plants are native species and indigenous to the Goulburn Valley region.

The Turf Maker 550 sounds like something from the future. However, the future is now on the Shepparton Line Upgrade!

The impressive piece of technology, known as a hydroseeder, makes the job of planting native grasses and shrubs quicker and more efficient.

With just one load of its 2000-litre tank, it can spray up to 100 kilograms of a mulch slurry infused with native grass seeds to embed and nurture new plantings.

And better yet, the raw materials needed for the Turf Maker are locally sourced in Yarrawonga.

While we might be done with major construction, we’ve been busy installing important infrastructure for our signalling upgrades between Seymour and Shepparton.

Civil signalling work includes laying foundations for signalling equipment rooms and the construction of walls, signalling masts and fencing.
