UPDATE 2200Hrs: 1 North bound lane is now re opened.

UPDATE 2110Hrs: 1 South bound lane has currently reopened.

UPDATE: Both North and South bound lanes are currently blocked to allow for the tow trucks to do their job. Please be patient, and if possible avoid the area.

We are currently on scene at a Truck accident on the Pacific Hwy before the Tarrean Road turn off. Both north bound lanes are impacted causing major traffic delays.
Please avoid the area if possible.

This afternoon (05/05/26) we were called to a Tree Alight.
Upon arrival we found the resident had been having a recreational fire.
It would seem that some embers from the recreational fire went and landed in a nearby paperbark and unfortunately ignited the tree.
Crews took no time at all to extinguish the fire.

This is a good reminder to follow a few simple rules in regards to haveing a fire at home, whether it be recreational or a pile burn:
🚒 Do not light a fire close to trees or overhanging vegetation - especially volatile trees like Paperbark or Tea Tree

🚒 Only Green Waste, ie: Dry branches, leaves etc No "Man Made" items, such as bulding waste/treated timber, Paper/cardboard, plastics/fabrics etc etc

🚒 Always have a water source on hand. You never know when something like this may happen, so haveing a charged water hose close by is essential.

Today we honored our fallen, we honored the fire fighters who put our lives above their own and go toward the danger, so that we don't have too.
Today we commemorated St Florian's Day - Patron Saint of Fire Fighters
We'd like to Thank our special guests, Cr Chris Doohan, Cr Jason Wells and Raymond Terrace Fire & Rescue for attending and helping us recognise those who went before us, who are still doing the job and those who will follow in our footsteps.

ANZAC 2026

A day to remember all service Men and Women.
A day of Saddness, Joy and Proudness of everything they did for us and everything they represent.

They gave so much, so we could live the lives we have.

With war still raging in our world, now more than ever, we love, cherish and respect everything our Armed Forces stand for.

* They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them. *

Despite the nights starting to cool down, we have been having some amazing weather!!!
Due to the lack of rain and the gorgeous warm weather, the fire danger for Thursday the 16th April is HIGH.

That and the fact that we currently have a Bushfire at Advice level at Masonite Road, Tomago, reminds us that just because Bushfire season is finished, our bushland is still capable of catching alight. Make sure you have your Fire Survival plan still ready and waiting and if you see a Fire unattended by Emergency Services, please call 000
