Thankyou to the McLaren Vale RSL who kindly allowed us to use their hall to hold our monthly meeting last night.

Now that our meeting room has become a changing room, the only place available to hold a meeting is the truck bay, which is very chilly in winter.

If you would like to offer an area we can hold a meeting in, please get in touch with us.

It was a busy morning for some of our members, we had an early morning call to a car fire & then a structure fire came through in Aldinga.

McLaren Vale is responsible for the BA cylinders in our group so we loaded up the command car with full cylinders & attended the job to support the trucks on scene.

Simon, who completed his BA course a few months ago was only to happy to help out & chalk up his first proper BA job.

⭐Get to know your local firefighter⭐

Stuey, pictured with a painting he did of his other home, Banyan Farm, on the Daly River, where he retreats for winter.

I am 71 years of age and have been a volunteer for 8 years 5 months, I am married with 3 adult children 6 grand children and 2 great grand children.

I started with McLaren Vale CFS in October 2017 just after I retired from 23 years as General Works Supervisor for Rio Tinto Salt in Karratha W.A.

I have attended 399 incidents mostly as the driver but have
had a few runs as Incident Controller and Crew Leader. I am the
Equipment officer for the Brigade.

My first fire was at Mount Compass in early 2018 where my training was extremely helpful, we train on Wednesday night with courses held throughout the year.

2019 was a big year for me I did a Deployment to NSW. To help fight a big fire at Inverell, then did 5 rotations to Kangaroo Island and was involved with the big fire the devastated much of K.I in January 2020, this was by far the biggest fire I have been involved with, learning a lot that has helped gain experience and skills to be a better volunteer.
In my spare time I am an Artist and spend time in my studio dabbling.

My other passion is fishing so most of my photos are me with fish.

⚠️ Elevated Fire Weather Forecast for Tomorrow ⚠️

While tomorrow officially marks the end of the Fire Danger Season, dry conditions remain across the state and continue to pose an increased fire risk.

This week alone, our volunteers have responded to more than 14 grass fires across the state, highlighting how quickly fires can start and spread.

🔥 With the risk still in the landscape, please take caution and remain vigilant when conducting any activity involving fire.

If conducting a burn, ensure a responsible person is in attendance at all times, water or a suitable fire extinguisher is available, and regularly check once the fire is extinguished to ensure it hasn't reignited. Ensure you follow any local restrictions or guidelines.

Your actions can help prevent unwanted fires and keep our communities safe.

McLaren Vale CFS is thrilled to announce that our station is now fully equipped, some might even call it a royal flush!

Last night, we officially welcomed Kyeema QRV to the station. While you may spot it around the Vale, it forms part of a broader regional fleet. As one of 35 QRVs now operating across the CFS, it will be a valuable asset not just for our local area, but for the entire state.

Exciting night for our Brigade last night with the long anticipated arrival of our Group QRV

Kyeema Group took delivery of a new QRV tonight.

The new Kyeema QRV is based on a Toyota Landcruiser LC90 chassis, is 4 x 4 and carries 550 litres of water.

Built by Varley Group, it is fitted with a Hatz 1B40 motor / Gaam Mk70 pump.

It includes additional safety features to protect firefighters, including a halo system (water deluge system) and an in-cab breathing system.

It comes fitted with an LED light bar and a Dometic fridge, and equipped with a Stihl chainsaw.

It is an addition to the Kyeema Group fleet.

It will be based at McLaren Vale Station.
