Today May the 1st is the end of the official Fire Danger Season.

That does not mean that there is no risk for fires. For example today is not a good day to burn piles: it’s windy and very dry. Wait til later in the season once we’ve had some rain.

Please always use caution when burning and don’t hesitate to call 000 if you lose control of a planned fire: we’d rather get there too early than too late!

⚠️ Elevated Fire Weather Forecast for Tomorrow ⚠️

While tomorrow officially marks the end of the Fire Danger Season, dry conditions remain across the state and continue to pose an increased fire risk.

This week alone, our volunteers have responded to more than 14 grass fires across the state, highlighting how quickly fires can start and spread.

🔥 With the risk still in the landscape, please take caution and remain vigilant when conducting any activity involving fire.

If conducting a burn, ensure a responsible person is in attendance at all times, water or a suitable fire extinguisher is available, and regularly check once the fire is extinguished to ensure it hasn't reignited. Ensure you follow any local restrictions or guidelines.

Your actions can help prevent unwanted fires and keep our communities safe.

Here’s some photos from this morning’s McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic. Mclaren Vale SA Country Fire Service were at the start of the parade and we supported by being at the end of the parade. Thanks to everyone for their support and to our members who were apart of it.

It was an honour being the bookend of the McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic parade this morning. A shout out to our members who volunteered that included a pre parade wash of the truck.

A reminder for everyone to stay vigilant and stay safe.

A reminder for everyone to stay vigilant and stay safe.

TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for Tuesday 31 March 2026 in the following Fire Ban Districts:

Mount Lofty Ranges - Extreme

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted.

The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow.

The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan.

Fire Danger Ratings
Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

What should you do
If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.

In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.

Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions

At 11:19am yesterday morning the pager went off for Air Ops support at Aldinga Airbase for a fire 5kms east of Willunga. Two of our members went there to help Seaford Country Fire Service at the airbase. Five minutes later the pager went off again as extra assistance was required for fighting the grass fire on the ground, so both our 34P truck and QRV (quick response vehicle) responded and the fire was contained by 12:05pm and completed soon after 3pm. Other brigades involved were Range Hope Forest CFS, Willunga Country Fire Service, Yundi CFS and Aldinga Beach Country Fire Service along
with the support of the planes and helicopters.
