Following the recent minor flooding across our region, we want to thank the Maryborough community for your preparedness and support. The way residents looked out for each other and worked with emergency services was fantastic to see.

WATCH AND ACT – Severe weather
Issued: 3.30pm, Monday 9 March

Severe weather is expected to continue across the Fraser Coast this evening.
Heavy rainfall may cause dangerous flash flooding, and damaging wind gusts of up to 120 km/h are possible.

River levels are continuing to rise, with minor to moderate flooding possible on the Mary River at Maryborough at around 7 metres.

Granville Bridge will close when the river reaches around 5.7 metres.
Prepare now:
β€’ Seek shelter
β€’ Secure loose outdoor items
β€’ Stay off the roads – if it’s flooded, forget it

If your life is in danger, call 000.

For non-life threatening emergency assistance, call SES on 132 500.

Fraser Coast weather preparation update (Monday, 9 March, 2.30pm) πŸ’¨

With strong winds and heavy rain expected across the Fraser Coast this afternoon and evening, residents are encouraged to take a few simple steps to prepare.

βœ… Secure loose items around your property, including outdoor furniture and trampolines
βœ… Stay informed and monitor weather updates
βœ… If your bins are due for collection tomorrow, consider putting them out early in the morning rather than tonight due to the forecast winds

Council will also be opening a sandbag filling station at Granville Hall, with details to be available on the Fraser Coast Disaster Dashboard once it is operational.

We would like to thank the community for taking the opportunity to fill their own sandbags over the past few days, with more than 7,500 sandbags filled across the region.
