A big good luck to our Year 3 and 4 students who are at Granville State School today, representing Sunbury in the MP State School Junior Reading Challenge! ✨

It’s wonderful to see our students taking their love of reading beyond the classroom, challenging themselves and enjoying the opportunity to represent our school alongside students from other local schools.

Reading continues to be such an important part of learning at Sunbury, so we’re very proud to see our young readers putting their knowledge, thinking and teamwork into action. 📖🌟

A big thank you to Mrs Yates for organising Sunbury’s involvement and supporting our students at today’s event.

🐨💙 STARTING PREP AT SUNBURY IN 2027? 💙🐨

We’re getting ready to welcome our newest little learners and their families through our KOALAS Prep Transition Program.

KOALAS is a free, teacher-directed transition program designed to help children become familiar with “big school”, build confidence, and start feeling comfortable in the Prep environment before their first day next year.

We also have a Parent Information Afternoon coming up for families wanting to learn more about Prep at Sunbury.

📅 Wednesday 16 September
⏰ 3:15–3:45pm
📍 Prep Room

Families will have the chance to:
• meet our Principal, Prep teacher and Inclusion staff
• ask questions and have a chat
• collect an enrolment pack
• find out more about the KOALAS transition program

Our KOALAS transition sessions will then run on:

📅 5 November
📅 12 November
⏰ 10:00–10:50am
📍 Prep Classroom

Families attending Sunbury in 2027 will also receive a transition support pack.

If your child will be starting Prep at Sunbury in 2027 and you’d like to attend, please RSVP by calling the school office on 4120 0777 so we can keep track of numbers.

We’re really looking forward to meeting our 2027 Prep families and helping those first steps into school feel exciting, familiar and fun. 🐨✨

A little end-of-term treat is on the way, Sunbury! 😋

Pizza will be available on Friday 18 September for $2.50 per slice, with three choices:

🍕 Ham & Cheese
🍕 Pepperoni
🍕 Simply Cheese

Order forms are heading home, so please make sure they are returned by Thursday 17 September.

🌈🎉 COLOUR FUN RUN - WEEK 2! 🎉🌈

Our Colour Fun Run fundraising is now well underway, Sunbury!

By now, students should have their sponsorship booklet and can create their online fundraising profile at:

🎁 There are 15 prizes to collect, and students can unlock their first reward after raising just $10.

And there’s a pretty impressive major prize up for grabs too… 👀

🎮 Australia’s top fundraiser at the end of the year will receive a PS5 Pro Gaming Bundle!

Every little bit raised helps support our students and school, and we’re looking forward to seeing our Sunbury total grow over the coming weeks. 💙

Country School Photos has advised that photo orders will be dispatched to Sunbury during the first week of Term 4.

💛 R U OK?DAY – WEAR YELLOW 💛

This Thursday 10 September, Sunbury will recognise R U OK?Day by adding a splash of yellow to our school. 🌼

Students and staff are encouraged to wear yellow as we take time to think about something incredibly important: checking in with the people around us.

This year’s message is:

💛 Ask R U OK? Any Day

Because caring for someone doesn’t need to wait for a special day.

A simple conversation, a genuine question and taking the time to really listen can make a big difference to someone who might be having a tough time.

At Sunbury, we want our students to know that looking out for one another, showing kindness and asking “Are you OK?” are important parts of being a strong and caring community. 💙💛

It’s official, Sunbury… our Colour Fun Run is on the way! 🎉
