Have your say: Support the Rail Trail in Central Goldfields! 🚶♀️
Central Goldfields Shire Council has released its Draft Walking and Cycling Strategy 2026–2030, and community feedback is open until 5:00 pm, Friday 18 September 2026.
The next four years are critical as the Castlemaine Maryborough Rail Trail (CMRT) moves from pre-construction to securing funding and starting construction. We need Council’s strategy to reflect that this project is mature, delivery-ready, and a regional priority!
How to have your say:
1. Complete the quick survey online: engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/walkcycle
Or
2. email your feedback to [email protected] with the subject line: Feedback, CGSC Walking and Cycling draft strategy
Key points to mention in your feedback:
Make CMRT a "High Priority" – it’s a major project ready to attract external State and Federal investment.Focus on delivery, not feasibility – pre-construction is nearly complete, and it’s time to prepare for construction.
Highlight tourism & local business benefits for towns like Maryborough and Carisbrook.
Formally recognise CMRT Inc. as an active community partner.
Every voice counts—let’s show Council the strong community backing behind the trail! 🙌
We're inviting community feedback on our Draft Walking and Cycling Strategy 2026–2030. The updated Strategy sets out a clearer, more connected and financially sustainable approach to improving walking and cycling across the Shire – including Maryborough, Bealiba,
