This weekend our Captain will be heading to Dubbo to compete in the NSW Rural Fire Service state championships.
Luke will lead crew members form neighbouring brigades Peninsula Rural Fire Brigade and Dora Creek Rural Fire Brigade. This composite crew was thrown together last minute a few months ago to compete in the Hunter Area Championships where they did exceptionally well and ended up qualifying for State.
The crew will represent NSW Rural Fire Service - Central Coast District competing in different scenarios that reflect RFS operations.
The boys are looking forward to competing, meeting new people and catching up with others from previous championships and deployments. But most of all they will be having a good laugh.
Give us a like to support for Luke, Alex, Rusty, Toby and Ben

We assisted Cooranbong Rural Fire Brigade with an MVA on Deaves Rd this morning.
It’s been a very busy couple of weeks for our brigade with 13 calls alone in the past week. Incidents range from bushfires, pile burns to assist ambulances.
We look forward to meeting many of you in Martinsville at our two Get Ready Weekend Sundays on Sep 20 & 27. You should have received a flyer in your mailbox or you can always check our website.

A fire has started north of Olney. There is currently no threat to property. Smoke is drifting East. The area is inaccessible to firefighters and helicopters are just arriving on scene.
Fire weather is deteriorating over the next few days, so if you are heading into the Watagans this weekend, please monitor conditions and alerts on Hazards near Me

A big thanks to Tubby Signs at Cooranbong for printing us a bunch of QR code decals to place on our signage for our Get Ready Weekend campaign - your support is greatly appreciated.

The QR codes will help us keep our community up to date with digital information and resources as we head into the bushfire period.

This was a pile burn… if you can call it that… in Cooranbong last week. With a flame height of more than 10 metres, embers up to 30, and close to trees (one of which was set alight), it took about 30,000 litres of water and foam to extinguish. Let’s not do this in Martinsville. The rules are there for a reason and can be found on our website.

A significant donation from Origin Energy enables the Martinsville Fire Brigade to access a high pressure water supply at our station. We can now quickly refill the trucks and return to fire fighting without leaving the valley. With the hot, dry summer predicted and Martinsville a very high risk fire zone this capacity is pretty timely. We are grateful for Origin's ongoing generous support of our brigade and the Martinsville community.
The Brigade will be holding street meetings in Sept to help you to prepare for the fire season with your neighbours.
More info coming soon.

Smoke from a hazard reduction burn today is visible from many locations around the area. This is a controlled burn by Forestry approx. 15km west of Cooranbong.
Smoke is currently drifting north and should not affect our area, but the smoke plume may be visible for a few more days yet.

We assisted our colleagues in the Lower Hunter this evening with a large burning log up the Watagans. One could only speculate of a cause, but it certainly did not ignite spontaneously.
Thanks to Cooranbong Rural Fire Brigade for their assistance.
