Pasta-tively Amazing Life Cycles!

Year 3 students have been exploring how living things can be grouped and classified based on their observable features. They have also been learning about the different stages of life cycles and how these can vary between living things.

Students got creative by creating and labelling the four stages of a butterfly’s life cycle using different types of pasta. They represented the egg, caterpillar (larva), chrysalis (pupa) and adult butterfly, then arranged the stages in the correct sequence to demonstrate their understanding of the butterfly’s life cycle.

Along the way, students learnt the terms metamorphic and non-metamorphic, discovering that butterflies undergo metamorphosis, where they change dramatically in form as they move through each stage of their life cycle.

Another win for the Marsden State School netball squad today, returning from the Firechicks Cup with the title of the 2026 Division Champions!

Under the scorching sun, our team remained undefeated for all 10 games, beating Loreto College in the final, 5-2.

All of our netball players have worked incredibly hard all term, and our selected squad played beautifully to represent Marsden State School.

Such a proud moment for the coaches, umpires, and team manager to see all the hard work pay off.

Go team!! 💚💛

Last week our Year 2 students had an exciting opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Australia’s amazing wildlife during a special Wildlife Rangers incursion!
As part of their English Information Report unit, students have been learning how to gather, organise and communicate factual information about Australian animals. Meeting and interacting with a range of native animals brought their learning to life and gave students plenty of real-world experiences to draw upon in their writing.
There were lots of curious questions, excited faces and wonderful opportunities to observe the animals closely. It was a fantastic way for our Year 2 students to connect with Australian wildlife while building their knowledge and confidence as young information writers!
