We are delighted to announce that Ethan has achieved an exceptional result, placing first in the 100m sprint at the NSW Combined High Schools (CHS) Athletics Carnival. Ethan competed against some of the state’s best young athletes and delivered an impressive performance, winning convincingly in a highly competitive field with a time of 10.93 seconds taking the Gold Medal!🥇

Ethan’s victory in the 100m sprint is a testament to his dedication, rigorous training, and outstanding athletic ability.

Ethan’s achievement not only highlights his personal commitment but also brings great pride to our school community.

Our other South Sydney competitors also did us proud with top 10 finishes.

On Wednesday, our Year 12 Entertainment students and Year 10 Entertainment volunteers had the incredible opportunity to see Disney’s The Lion King at the Capitol Theatre 🦁

Students engaged in a behind-the-scenes Q&A with the cast and crew after the show, gaining insight into the technical requirements, creativity and teamwork behind a world-class production.

Students were inspired by the stunning sets, costumes and amazing puppetry.

This is just one of many extension opportunities provided to our High Potential and Gifted (HPGE) Creative and Performing Arts students at South Sydney High School.

💛🗣️RUOK? Day🗣️💛

Today we celebrated RUOK? Day at SSHS.  

R U OK? Day is an annual Australian su***de prevention campaign that encourages people to have meaningful conversations with friends, family, and colleagues by asking “Are you OK?” to build connections and provide support for those struggling with life’s challenges.

Today students engaged in conversations around how to ask someone “RUOK?” while discussing available supports and how to access them. Students also participated in a 🧵friendship bracelet making workshop our annual RUOK? Day Tug of War 🪢- with Year 10 emerging victorious

Today, 30 students from Years 7-9 took part in Write a Book in a Day, supported by our Year 10 Student Ambassadors Diana P, A***n S and Aidan F.

Working in teams of writers and illustrators, students received their writing parameters at the start of the day, including characters, settings and five random words that had to be included in their 3500-5000 word novels.

The day involved plenty of planning, writing, illustrating, editing and teamwork, with lollies and pizza helping to keep everyone going.

As the deadline approached, the pressure was on as teams raced against the clock to finish, upload and submit their novels online for judging.

It was a busy and rewarding day, giving students the chance to work together, challenge themselves creatively and raise money for The Kids’ Cancer Project

Last week, Year 12 students in Visual Arts, Music, Photography and Entertainment Industry presented major works, performances and skills in audio, lighting and stage, at our HSC Showcase.

We are incredibly proud of their work. They worked tirelessly to the end to achieve outstanding results.
