The 2020-21 fire season is declared over from midnight tonight (Friday 30 April 2021) due to recent rains and the forecast for more wet weather adequately reducing the risk of fire. 🌧🔥

Heads up! We are now in the RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD effective from 9th November until 21st December.

Don't be the village idiot that starts a bushfire!

PERMITS TO BURN ARE NOW REQUIRED.

If you require a permit you will need to contact your local Fire Control Officer (FCO) listed in the Shire Notice brochure that was sent to all residents several weeks ago. Or visit the shire website or offices to obtain a copy.

You do not need a permit if you are burning garden refuse. You can only burn one cubic metre of refuse from 6pm to 11pm ONLY. You MUST have one person in attendance at all times and the fire MUST be completely extinguished by midnight of the same day. A courtesy call to your area FCO is appreciated.

The restricted fire period will end midnight 21st December (or earlier in the season depending on conditions) and then we are in the Prohibited Fire Season.

We'd like to give a big double thumbs up to those residents that have made an effort to clean and clear the fire risk around their properties. Fire is inevitable in the Margaret River region and it's great to see some people understand and prepare for the inevitability.
