🎄 Marburg Community Santa Run – Saturday 20th 🎄

After all the T’s have been crossed, the I’s dotted, and every official stamp firmly pressed onto the correct paperwork, it is with great excitement that we can officially announce the Marburg Community Santa Run will be rolling through town on Saturday the 20th.

This year, the run is getting even bigger and louder — growing from three to four fire trucks, with our big brothers from the Auxiliary Station proudly bringing up the rear. Between the flashing lights, rumbling engines, and Christmas cheer, it’ll be very hard not to see or hear us as we make our way through this wonderful community.

🎅🚒 Kick-off time: 6:00 pm
📍 Starting point: Marburg Rural Fire Station
➡️ We’ll begin by heading down Edmund Street, with full route details to be posted closer to the date.

🎁 A little housekeeping (Santa-style safety edition):

• When you see the trucks entering your street, we kindly ask everyone to wait behind their letterboxes.
• Once all firefighting vehicles have come to a complete stop, they may then be safely approached.
• Please remember that all vehicles remain actively logged on and ready to respond to emergencies.
• If a vehicle needs to respond, it will activate its siren and pull out of the procession — safety always comes first.

Both stations are truly looking forward to seeing smiling faces, excited kids, waving hands, and plenty of Christmas spirit lining the streets. Come out, say hello, give us a wave — and of course, don’t forget to keep an eye out for Santa himself 🎅✨

It is with great excitement that we can share this news…
The brigade has officially been contacted by the Administration Elves of the North Pole, who have lodged a very special request with us.

They want to know if we would be willing to es**rt a certain jolly, red-suited festive gentleman around the Marburg community this Christmas season.

We’ve sent our enthusiastic “YES!” back up the magical pipeline and are now awaiting final details on dates, route, and timings.
Stay tuned — the sleigh is warming up and so are we! 🚒🎅✨

PREPARE TO LEAVE - Lake Wivenhoe - fire as at 4:16pm Saturday, 30 August 2025



Warning level: WATCH AND ACT



Warning area: Between Brisbane Valley Highway, Logan Inlet Road and Fig Tree Road



A large fire is burning near the Brisbane Valley Highway. It is travelling towards Logan Inlet Road.



Conditions could get worse quickly.



Firefighters are working to contain the fire. You should not expect a firefighter at your door.



If your life is in danger, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

What you should do:

- If you have a bushfire survival plan, follow it now.

- Prepare now so you can leave quickly if the bushfire gets close:

- Decide where you and the people you live with will go. This could be with family or a friend away from the fire. Plan how you will get there. Tell others where you will go.

- Charge mobile phones and power banks.

- Be ready to take your pets, pet food, pet lead or crate/carrier.

- Pack a bag with a mobile phone charger, enough clothes for five days, important documents (like ID, insurance papers, passports and photos), medicine, cash and keys.

- If you do not drive, call your support service, a family member or a friend to organise transport if you need to leave or want to leave.

- If you find it hard to move quickly, leaving now is your safest option.

- Keep medications close by.

- Move flammable items away from your house if you can.

- Help others if it’s safe to do so.

- Watch out for firefighters working in the area.

- Do not fly drones around the fire. Drones affect air operations.

- Stay informed:

- Keep checking the QFD Current Bushfires and Warnings website.

- Follow QFD on Facebook and X.com.

- Listen to your local radio station.



Impacts:

- The fire is likely to impact the community in the coming hours.

- Smoke can make it hard for some people to breathe.

- Smoke can make it hard to see when you are driving.

- Roads may be closed or impacted.

- Power, water, and mobile phone services may be impacted as the fire gets closer.

After being away from their station for just over a week, the trucks were happy to be back home in their shed on the new floor.
Big shout out to Chad's Epoxy Flooring Pty Ltd for the amazing job he did on the old floor. The new epoxy floor covering has make it safer with water spills, easier to maintain/clean and looks fantastic.

Marburg Rural Fire Brigade will holding its non-voting Annual General Meeting on Sunday 17th August 2025 at 10am. This will be followed by a General Meeting. A BBQ lunch will be provided.
