🇦🇺 With my best mate Ted today to witness the formal announcement of a partnership between two phenomenal veteran organisations Invictus Australia and Soldier On Australia in benefit of our Veteran Community.

On board the staggeringly big HMAS Canberra, beautiful speeches from former Governors Sir Peter Cosgrove and David Hurley. Patrons of Invictus and Soldier On.

7 year old Ted dream to go on a “warship” unlocked. 😊

My thoughts go back to the amazing John Bale and James Brown for their efforts in both these entities and their legacies.

Our hearts are with the people of Nepal and Tibet following the devastating floods, and with everyone who has lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods.
The Northern Beaches is home to large and valued Tibetan and Nepalese communities, and we know many local families are deeply worried about relatives, friends and communities back home.

While LocalKind is unable to facilitate donations or overseas fundraising, we are doing what we can here, checking in with our clients, reaching out to community members, and offering support during this difficult time.

We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone who has lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods, and we hold hope for those still waiting for news of family and friends.

❌ With the greatest of respect, we are not Bondi Junction or Chatswood, and nor do we want to be.

📣 It’s incredibly hard to support more density when there is no plan for our public transport or infrastructure investment to keep up with the new housing targets and the scale of these buildings.

✅ We need a commitment for a long term transport plan, appropriate infrastructure and green open space. Not 39 storey towers.

Density done right, no problems. But this is not an appropriate approach.

This month, we're celebrating three incredible members of our LocalKind volunteer family. From left to right, meet Peta, Simon, and Jalen.
Peta joined LocalKind in May this year and wasted no time in rallying her entire network to collect and donate food to our pantry. At the time, our pantry looked the saddest it had ever looked. Peta took one look at it and decided to give it as much love as she could. Peta is already a huge part of the LocalKind family. We appreciate your commitment to our community so much.

Simon volunteers with Roses in the Ocean as a Su***de Prevention Peer Support Worker, and LocalKind is lucky enough to have him use our drop-in space for his work on Mondays and Wednesdays. You may know him from our Fishing Club social posts. He is the founder and front man of this very special club, and we feel very lucky to have him as part of the LK family.

Jalen decided that she wanted to move to Manly this year and immediately applied to be a volunteer at LocalKind. She is clearly at ease in our space and with our clients. Her time at LK has confirmed her desire to move into Community Services, and we are very proud to be a part of her journey into social work.

Thank you for sharing your time and your hearts with our community. We are so grateful to have each of you as part of the LocalKind family.

🚌 Regardless of whether there is a ‘private operator’ or not, Transport for NSW (aka the current state Labor Government) has and always will determine

- bus routes,
- bus frequency of services and,
- the overall timetable for the bus network.

They’ve said they’d fix it. And yet after three years of persistent issues, and still unable to recruit the drivers needed to deliver the existing timetable, it is time to acknowledge that the timetable is simply not feasible.

There are roughly 160 drivers currently missing from the workforce, so continuing to demand a timetable that cannot be reliably delivered will only produce the same outcome: cancellations, delays, ghost buses and a workforce stretched thin.

I am calling on Transport for NSW to review the network from the ground up, with reliability prioritised to rebuild trust in the system.

People have told me they’d prefer KNOWING with certainty that they would have a bus every 20 mins rather than MAYBE one every 10…or none in some circumstances.

So, let’s fix the problem that we currently face:

✅ Create a timetable that guarantees reliability, built on the reality of today’s workforce: not the driver numbers Labor has spent three years promising but failing to deliver.

✅ Make reliability the measure of success, not unrealistic frequency: three years of missed promises have shown that an aspirational timetable means nothing if the buses don’t turn up.

✅ Plan the network for future housing approvals: major developments such as the Warringah Mall proposal should have transport impact assessed and funded before approval, so growth isn’t bolted onto an already stretched network.

📣 Importantly, this is not a criticism of the drivers and Depot team at Brookie who do a great job. And for anyone who says this is because of “privatisation” well I asked the Government that if the contract is so bad then they should rip it up (they said no) and - the Government retains all decisions with respect to timetables, routes, Opal fare costs etc. The private operator simply deliver the intended service.

Time to get the basics right. 🚌

🇦🇺 UNDEFEATED. Herb Elliott AC MBE.

The grestest middle distance runner in the history of athletics.

As some of you may know, running has meant a lot to me growing up and especially in the past few years.

So it was an absolute honour and privilege to sit down with Herb today at his place in Harbord for a coffee.

Full of stories but equally as humble.

- 1500m Gold at the 1960 Rome Olympics.
- 17 Sub 4-minute miles
- 1500m World Record holder…

Iconically…never beaten over a mile or 1500m.

Indeed, his 1960 gold medal effort would have won again in Seoul (1988), Barcelona (1992) and Atlanta (1996).

He was particularly impressed with how far running has come as demonstrated by the emergence of ‘run clubs’. Herb was happy that running was proving to be a good social connector and outlet for people.

He was also very pleased to hear about the efforts of the Viper Running Club supporting Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli

His retirement from racing at 22 years old whilst at the top of his game was an amazing decision. But he said, he’d done what he set out to do and that’s all there was to it.

Running means different things to different people. Herb had some amazing insights…one that I’ll leave you with “success is not easy, but it is worth the effort”.

The Annual Northern Beaches Women's Shelter Patrons Luncheon at NSW Parliament 2026.

A wonderful lunch this week with supporters, volunteers and friends of the Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter.

The lunch is hosted in the President’s Dining Room, a historic and unique venue which provides an opportunity for supporters of the Shelter to reflect on the work over the past 12 months, and the important challenges and initiatives ahead.

One thing that strikes me about the Shelter is the fact that 96c of every dollar goes straight to frontline service delivery!
