⚠️ An update on the beached vessel at Windy Harbour ⚠️

The Shire wishes to advise the community that the Department of Transport has now engaged contractors to remove the vessel from the area. The contractors are awaiting favourable weather and sea conditions before commencing removal works, which are expected to take place over the coming weeks.

During this time, please keep a safe distance from the vessel and any machinery operating on the beach as part of the removal process.

‼️A key bearing the name "DORIC" has been located outside the Shire Administration Building. 🔑

From what we can tell, it unlocks something. Beyond that, the investigation has yielded few leads.

If Doric belongs to you, please come and collect it from the Shire administration building.

Happy Friday everyone!

As part of the ‘Weather Your Drive’ campaign (developed by the National Road Safety Partnership Program), a quick reminder that YOU can play an important role in keeping our community safe by driving to the conditions, avoiding known hazards and always following road closures and signage.

The Shire responds to a high volume of reports during periods of severe weather, with crews working to assess and manage hazards as quickly and safely as possible across a large area. If it’s safe to do so, reporting issues also helps us respond more effectively and prioritise areas of greatest need. Don't forget that you can use Antenno, a free mobile app that sends you notifications and alerts about where you live and allows you to report incidents.

Happy long weekend-eve, folks. More people will be out and about so roads will be busier than usual.

As part of the ‘Weather Your Drive’ campaign (developed by the National Road Safety Partnership Program), a quick reminder to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and drive to the conditions, when you are driving in rain or severe weather conditions.

✔ Check conditions before you leave
✔ Know your route (avoid back roads & flood-prone areas)
✔ Keep your phone charged – outages can happen

✨ We are absolutely stoked to share that at the 2026 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards on Tuesday night, Pemberton was awarded second place for the Top Tourism Town, with Walpole close behind in third.

A huge congratulations as well to local legend, Gary Muir, from WOW Wilderness EcoCruises, who took home the Local Tourism Legend Award 🥇

Gary is a seventh-generation local with a background in conservation and heritage, and if you’ve ever joined one of his tours, you’ll know they come packed with fascinating stories, sharp humour, incredible local knowledge, and enough passion to power the boat twice over 😎✨
