🍓 EMERGENCY STRAWBERRY PLANT SALE! 🍓
Got a blank spot in your garden patch? We’ve got an unexpected surplus of bare-rooted strawberry plants that need a home THIS WEEK ONLY! John Draper from Harvest ME has helped us secure these, but because they are bare-rooted, they need to get into the soil ASAP. We cannot take pre-orders, so it’s first-in, best-dressed!

📅 When & Where to Catch Us
📍 Where: Mandurah Community Garden – Coodanup Drive (right next to Coodanup College)
⏰ Pickup Days: * Tuesday: 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Saturday: 9:30am – 11:30am

💰 Grab a Bargain! $2 per single plant or 6 plants for just $10!

🤔 What does "Bare-Rooted" mean, and why is it awesome?
If you've never bought bare-rooted plants before, don't worry—it’s actually the secret weapon of pro gardeners!

🌱 What it means: These plants have been grown in the ground, dug up during their dormant phase, and had the soil washed off their roots. You aren't buying a plastic pot full of dirt; you are buying pure, concentrated plant!

✨ The Advantages:

Stronger Root Systems: Because they aren't confined to a plastic pot, bare-rooted plants often establish much tougher, healthier root systems once they hit your soil.

Super Easy to Plant: Just dig a small hole, spread the roots out naturally, and cover. No root-bound tangles to deal with!

Eco-Friendly: Zero plastic pot waste.

Quick Tip: Because their roots are exposed, you'll want to get these babies in the ground (or in your pots) as soon as you get home!

Bring a bag or a container down to Coodanup Drive this Tuesday or Saturday and set up your future strawberry feasts. See you there! ❤️ BYO boxes/bags if you can!

🌟 A Delightful Visit from Faye Arcaro! 🌿🐝
We were delighted to host Faye Arcaro and her friend April this week for a homemade pumpkin soup and focaccia lunch, using a delicious pumpkin grown right here in our garden! 🎃🥖

Faye Arcaro is a West Australian based horticulturist who co-hosts the weekly "Let's Talk Gardening" program on Curtin 100.1fm radio, winner of the 2007 "ABC Gardener of the Year", and campaigner for environmental awareness, sustainability and photography.

It was lovely to walk around the community garden together for a "show and tell." Even the most experienced gardeners are always learning, and we were so grateful to receive some fantastic tips and tricks from these two amazing women.

A few highlights from the visit:

Plant Sharing: Believe it or not, we had a couple of plants that Faye and April didn't have—Malabar spinach and Longevity spinach! It is always such a joy to share plants and cuttings with others. 🥬🌱

Bug Knowledge: Faye is a wealth of knowledge about bugs, pollinators, predators, and native bees. Her passion is contagious! We even found a chrysalis on the underside of a sweet potato leaf. 🦋

Natural Solutions: Thanks to Faye’s advice, we will be planting Feverfew under our fig tree to help deter the scale we often get at the end of the season. 🌳🌼

A huge thank you to Faye and April for taking the time to visit MCG while they were in Mandurah. It was a wonderful afternoon of sharing and learning! 💚

✨ A Beautiful Morning of Connection in the Garden! ✨
The garden was buzzing with life again as we welcomed the kids and Rachael from Raising Well Beings back after the school holidays! 🏠🌿 It was so wonderful to see everyone; there was so much news to catch up on, plenty of work to do, and even more fun to be had together.

We were also incredibly honored to host some lovely seniors from the Brightwater Memory Support Unit. 🧡 It was a truly heart-melting sight to see the smiles on their faces as they watched the children play and explore. We finished the morning with a gentle walk around the garden, taking a moment to appreciate the vibrant sights and the calming scents of the herbs and flowers. 🌸🍃

It was a beautiful morning of intergenerational connection, fresh air, and community spirit. Thank you to everyone who made it so special!

🥔 Spuds in the Making! 🌿
What a productive Tuesday afternoon it was in the garden!

Michael and Cheryl were hard at work, carefully tucking seed potatoes into their new home within our IBC Wicking Bed. These wicking beds are such a clever way to ensure our veggies stay hydrated and happy, even when the sun is out! ☀️💧

There is something so rewarding about getting your hands in the soil and starting the season off right. We’re already dreaming of the delicious meals these will become, but the best part? The children will have a ball when it's harvest time! 🏃‍♂️💨 There’s nothing quite like the "treasure hunt" of digging up fresh potatoes from the earth. 🏴‍☠️🥔

Stay tuned for more garden updates as these little tubers start to sprout!
