🔥 Training with a difference! 🔥

Today MSD BFB crews swapped the usual drills for a pile burn, assisting a local landowner and getting some valuable hands-on training in the process. 🚒👩‍🚒

It was a great opportunity for our members to practise basic hose techniques, work around live fire conditions, and put the drip torch to good use. 💦🔥

Got a large pile that needs burning? Where we’re able to assist, we’re happy to help. Reach out to us and let’s have a chat about what support we may be able to provide. 🤝

And of course, our shameless safety plug… please make sure you comply with your City of Mandurah burn permit or other local council requirements and register your burn with DFES before lighting up on:

Safe, planned and permitted burning is the way to go. 🔥🚒

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

Today, we want to give a special shout out to our incredible volunteers who are mothers, grandmothers, and carers. ❤️

Thank you for the time, compassion, strength, and dedication you give not only to your families, but also to our community. Your selflessness and commitment make a real difference every single day, and we are so grateful for everything you do.

We hope today brings you the love and appreciation you truly deserve. 💐

From all of us at MSD BFB — Happy Mother’s Day!

03/05/2026

Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, we take a moment to recognise those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and to reflect on the commitment shown by firefighters everywhere.

For many of us, it’s not just a job or a role—it’s a responsibility to our community, our mates, and our families who stand behind us every time the pager goes off.

Behind every turnout is a team willing to step forward when others step back. Whether it’s fire, rescue, or medical, the mission stays the same—protect life, property, and each other.

We also acknowledge the families and support networks who carry the weight alongside us. None of this happens without them.

Today we remember those we’ve lost, stand with those still serving, and commit to continuing the job the right way.

Stay safe, look after your crew, and look after yourselves.

Today we pause to remember.

On ANZAC Day, we honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all Australian and New Zealand men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country.

From the shores of Gallipoli to modern-day operations, their legacy is one of resilience, mateship, and unwavering commitment — values that continue to guide us in our own service to the community.

As firefighters, we stand on those same principles: looking out for one another, stepping forward when it counts, and serving something bigger than ourselves.

Today, we remember those who gave everything, and we thank all who have served.

Lest we forget.

Name a more Dynamic Aussie duo, we will wait 😊

Look at moiii! Now I’ve got one word to say to youuu… don’t get in the way of emergency services vehicles! 🚒

Like the inseparable Kath and Kim, our firetrucks lead the way with their trusty sidekicks – the Light Tankers. A WA-only iconic duo, our Light Tankers provide back-up and are built for fast-moving scrub fires and tight spots – it’s nice, it’s different, it’s unusual!

So slow down, merge left if you can, or if you can’t move over, slow down and indicate left until they’ve passed. And when first responders are at roadside incidents, flashing lights on a stationary vehicle means you MUST slow down, move over if possible and pass at a max of 40 km/h – no matter what lane your beep beep Barina is in! 🚘

ICYMI
Today, 28 February, is Thank a Firey Day 🔥

We’d like to take a moment to recognise and thank all the incredible volunteer firefighters who give up their time, families, and comfort to protect our community. From training nights and maintenance to callouts at all hours, their commitment doesn’t go unnoticed.

A special shoutout to our own Mandurah Southern Districts Bush Fire Brigade members who continue to step up for Herron, Bouvard and surrounding areas – whether it’s responding to incidents, mentoring our new volunteers, or keeping our appliances and gear ready to go.

Behind every turnout is a team of dedicated volunteers who do it for one simple reason: to help their community.

If you see a firey today, give them a wave, a thumbs up, or simply say thank you 👨‍🚒🚒

We are proud to stand alongside the wider volunteer fire and emergency services family across WA.

We know we’ve been a little quiet lately… and for good reason 👀🔥

Behind the scenes we’ve been busy welcoming and training our new volunteer firefighters!

Over the past few weeks our newest crew members have been putting in the hard yards with appliance familiarisation, equipment drills, and hands-on training to get them ready. From hose work to pump operations, it’s been great to see the teamwork and commitment already shining through.

A massive welcome to some our new volunteers
Michael, Brendan, Larissa, Cherie-Ann, Jess – you’ve hit the ground running and we’re proud to have you on the team with us 🚒

💘🔥 Happy Valentine’s Day from MSD BFB!

We’ve had a bit of fun this week, but the message is serious — the best way to show you care is by keeping your loved ones safe.

Before you light the candles or cook up a romantic dinner tonight, remember:
✔️ Working smoke alarms
✔️ Follow fire ban rules
✔️ Use flameless candles where you can
✔️ Dispose of ashes safely
✔️ Stay in the kitchen while cooking

A safe home is the best gift you can give.

From all of us at the Mandurah Southern Districts Bush Fire Brigade, have a great Valentine’s Day — and stay fire safe ❤️🔥

🍳❤️ Romantic dinner on the cards? Stay with the stove.

Cooking fires are one of the most common callouts.

👀 Don’t leave pans unattended
🔥 Turn off the heat if you leave the kitchen
🧯 Keep a lid nearby to smother small grease fires

We’ll handle bushfires — you handle the stovetop 😉
