International Firefighters Day reminds us of the remarkable people who step forward in moments of danger to keep others safe.
Whether responding to bushfires, emergencies, or community calls for help, firefighters everywhere show what true service looks like.

We also acknowledge the families and friends who stand behind us. Your sacrifices, the missed dinners, late night callouts, and long days waiting for updates, are truly appreciated.
We couldn't do this without you.

The Mandogalup VBFB extends a huge thank you to Alcoa Australia for sending a team of absolute superheroes to sand back and restore our patio bar.

Station maintenance is always a shared effort, and support like this makes a real difference. Larger upkeep jobs can easily slip down the list during the busy summer period, so having extra hands on deck helps ensure our facilities stay ready when our crews need them most.

We’re grateful for Alcoa’s ongoing support of the Mandogalup BFB, and we know our members will get great use out of this refreshed space. 🍻

We told you something big was coming...
Well, the wait is over!!

After months of work, the brigade is excited to announce the commissioning of our new Fire Support Vehicle.
Made possible through the Alcoa Bushfire Ready Fund, we were able to ensure the fit-out met all requirements.

The brigade would like to thank Alcoa for their continued support and for making this important project possible.

Now, here's Ben, our 1st Lieutenant, to tell you more about this vehicle.

The Mandogalup Volunteer Bushfire Brigade, in conjunction with several brigades from the Perth metropolitan area, has been rendering crucial assistance for an extensive and complex incident in the Boddington region.

Firefighters have been undertaking round-the-clock operations to contain the fires, which, as of now, remain uncontained and uncontrolled, covering an area exceeding 5,000 hectares - roughly equivalent to the combined size of the cities of Cockburn and Fremantle.

We wish to express our appreciation and respect to all brigades and firefighters involved in the Boddington complex for their outstanding efforts and commitment, our fellow crews are nothing short of inspirational.

🔥On Sunday January 11th, Mandogalup Volunteer Bushfire Brigade was turned out to an out of control fire in Mardella in the shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.🔥

🚒 Although the day was long and hot, with a strong easterly wind, the fire was contained with the combined efforts of dozens of crews and appliances. 🚒

This is a good reminder that we still have the remainder of the fire season ahead of us, and we all play an important part in being vigilant. The sooner a brigade can turn out to a fire, often the easier it is for us to contain.

That e-scooter, the new tablet, even rechargeable children's toys likely contain Lithium-ion batteries.

Lithium-ion batteries have become the fastest growing home fire risk in WA, with over 100 fires started by them in 2025 alone.

So, here's the advice from Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA 👇
📲 Don’t charge devices on the bed, couch or when unattended
🔌 Unplug devices when fully charged
✅ Stick to reputable brands and avoid shoddy or frayed chargers
🏡 Charge e-bikes, e-scooters and power tools in a garage or shed
🔋 Only use chargers that are supplied with the device
⚠️ Device repairs, modifications or upgrades should be done by a professional
‼️ Avoid using devices with signs of swelling, leaking or overheating
🔥 Don’t leave devices in direct sunlight or hot cars
