Hello! I’m Cecilia.
I arrived in Australia from Sweden in 1999.
My background is in sculpture and painting, but I’ll work with whatever materials are at hand.
I’m a prolific visual poet — and the reason I create is simple: I just can’t stop!
I’m also a trained art conservator, and my day job is as a conservation framer. I get to handle everything from treasured memorabilia to high-end collector’s pieces — a constant source of inspiration.
I started raffia weaving about 10 years ago, and it’s been a slow, grounding process.
I learned basket making from a woman who had lost her child — she showed me how weaving could help with grief.
When I later lost one of my best friends, the weaving became even more important to me.
Now, I’m starting weaving circles as a way to hold space for storytelling, community building, and passing on the craft.
