Mallacoota Fire Brigade wish to thank Wairewa Fire Brigade for the donation of a generator for our satellite station at Gipsy Point. It is great too see Brigades supporting each other and sharing ideas.

A reminder this is happening today.

On Monday 27 July 2026, we’re testing Australia’s new national warning system AusAlert.

During the national test, an alert will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia, which includes most mobile phones, some smart watches and some tablets. Apple iPads won’t receive AusAlerts.

The test times across Australia are:

🔸Australian Capital Territory – 2pm AEST
🔸New South Wales – 2pm AEST
🔸Queensland – 2pm AEST
🔸Tasmania – 2pm AEST
🔸Victoria – 2pm AEST
🔸Broken Hill, NSW – 1.30pm ACST
🔸South Australia – 1.30pm ACST
🔸Northern Territory – 1.30pm ACST
🔸Western Australia – 12pm AWST
🔸Christmas Island – 11am CXT.

If your device receives the AusAlert national test, it will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound for about 10 seconds before stopping, even if your device is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

Help spread the word.

If someone in your life may not be aware of the AusAlert national test, call them today and share this information with them so they know what to expect. 📢

You can find a range of resources to help you and your loved ones prepare for the national test at the link in our comments.

Make sure your family, friends and colleagues are ready for the AusAlert national test on Monday 27 July by sharing this post. ✅

We're in!! 🥳
On Wednesday 1st July Mallacoota Fire Brigade were given our Certificate of Occupancy for the new change room.
No longer do we have to don our PPC in the corner of the engine bay.
We have plenty of hooks ready for new members to join us! Give us call 🤳 for information on how to become a Volunteer Fire Fighter.
I would like to thank the CFA VESEP program, builders, contractors and all those that contributed over the past three years to enhance the facilities at our station.

🚒🚒Do you have working smoke alarms in your home?🚒🚒

If you do not have working smoke alarms in your home, you are risking your life and the lives of your loved ones. 🔥

👂You will not hear a fire or smell the smoke while you are sleeping and by the time it reaches you, it will be too late.

Mallacoota Fire Brigade members are offering to install free smoke alarms powered with a 10 year lithium battery in the homes of people who cannot purchase, install, or maintain their alarms themselves, (conditions apply).

If you would like to have smoke alarms installed in your home or gain some general home fire safety advice, please get in touch with Mallacoota Fire Brigade.

Training at Mallacoota today saw 9 members from Mallacoota and Cann Valley carry out fuel preparation work to assist 3 of our members with their Supress Wildfire assessment.
We also set up the old 'chain' to move some cut wood for a neighbour. Many hands made light work of the task.
A day of team work and comeraderie. We then dragged our weary bones back to the station for a BBQ and and a video refresher on comms. 🚒🚒

Training on Sunday was held at Cann Valley Brigade. We investigated the best locations to gain water: Big Fill Pump access points and reticulated supplies. We went over the maths to work out % of fire involved building or building and contents, closed pump pressure of the reticulated supply and updated some BA skills maintenance. We reconvened at Cann Valley station for a BBQ lunch. 15 members from 3 Brigades; Mallacoota, Bemm River & Cann Valley attended the training. 🚒

I would like to thank my Mallacoota Brigade volunteers; the operational, the non operational and those that give what they can, when they can to our community.
Also all agencies and organisations that give countless hours that many do not see to keep our community moving forward.
Thank you.
