Hunter Valley Steamfest Burton Automotive Hunter Valley Steamfest is Australia's premier festival of steam.

Maitland City Council is committed to promoting openness, relevance, accuracy and respect in every facet of its social media engagement. What a weekend that was! Thank you for joining us for the 2026 Burton Automotive Group Hunter Valley Steamfest 🚂

A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors and supporters who helped bring this community favourite event to life - Burton Automotive Group, Australian Rail Track Corporation Ltd. - ARTC, The Bloomfield Group, NBN Television, Transport Heritage NSW and Maitland City Council

Did you stop by our Steam Rally sponsor The Bloomfield Group's stall over the weekend? Visitors enjoyed antique machinery, vintage games and see how things were done in days gone by.

The Bloomfield Group's ‘guess the weight’ coal challenge proved popular, with 568 entries and guesses ranging from 4kg to 1000kg.

They’ve weighed the coal… and the final weight came in at 36.3kg.

Congratulations to Brendan B, with his spot on guess of 36.32kg.

What an incredible weekend! From unforgettable heritage steam train rides to the roar of the Show ‘n’ Shine, Steamfest brought history to life this weekend.

• Ride the trackless train or hop aboard the people mover
• Watch live blacksmithing and see steampunk come to life
• Don’t miss the steam-powered corn cooking and coal shovelling comps
• Enjoy tractor pulls, wood carving, face painting, local makers and more
