Did You Know? 👀
Vision develops through movement, exploration and play. 💜

This week in our GymbaROO classes we are exploring how movement helps develop vision.

Vision isn’t just about seeing clearly. It’s about how the brain interprets, remembers and responds to what the eyes see. Vision develops through movement, play and hands-on experiences. Activities such as crawling, climbing, ball play, puzzles, visual tracking and imaginative play all help build the visual skills children need for learning, reading, writing and everyday life.

More information and activity ideas can be found on your Parent Portal. 💜

✨ New Rotation Alert! ✨

A new obstacle course has arrived at our Maitland centre and it’s packed with opportunities for children to move, learn and grow. We haven’t even been able to fit in the entire circuit in this post so you’ll have to come into our centre to see it for yourself!

As children climb, swing, slide, balance, jump and explore, they are developing far more than physical skills. Each station has been carefully designed to support vestibular development, balance, coordination, motor planning, visual skills, body awareness and confidence.

Movement provides the foundation for learning, and through play-based activities children are building the neurological pathways needed for future success.

We can’t wait to see our little movers exploring this exciting new setup this week! 💜

Remember it’s re-enrolment week for our existing families and enrolment for new families starts next week!

💜 This week in BabyROO we’re exploring the importance of bare feet! 👣

Did you know that little feet are packed with sensory receptors that send important information to the brain? When babies and young children spend time barefoot, they receive more feedback about the surface beneath them, helping to develop balance, body awareness, coordination and strong foot muscles.

Going barefoot also encourages natural foot movement, supports healthy arch development and helps children learn how to adjust their posture and movements as they explore their world.

👣 Ways to support this at home:
• Allow plenty of barefoot time indoors and outdoors (when safe)
• Explore different textures such as grass, sand, mats and carpet
• Encourage climbing, balancing and movement games without shoes
• Choose flexible footwear when shoes are needed

💜 There’s plenty more information available on your Parent Portal, included in your term fees.

📣 Don’t forget — it’s re-enrolment week! Pop online and secure your preferred class day and time for next term before places fill. We’d love to continue supporting your child’s development through movement, music and play. 💜

This week we are discussing sight and vision in BabyROO Classes.

Seeing is called sight, while understanding what is seen is called vision. Vision develops through movement, play and everyday experiences. As babies look, listen, touch and explore, their brains begin making sense of the world around them. There is a close relationship between visual development and movement, with activities such as tummy time, rolling, reaching and crawling all helping vision develop.

Ways to support vision development at home:
• Provide plenty of tummy time and floor play.
• Offer opportunities to look at high-contrast pictures, faces and simple toys.
• Encourage tracking by slowly moving a toy from side to side.
• Change your baby’s position during play and nappy changes so they see the world from different angles.
• Allow babies to explore, reach, grasp and move towards objects that interest them.

Of course, there’s plenty more information on your parent portal, included in your term fees. 💜

💜 Climbing is so much more than just fun!

This little explorer at our Branxton centre is busy building skills from the inside out. As children climb, they strengthen their hands, arms, shoulders and core muscles while developing balance, coordination and body awareness.

Climbing also challenges the brain. Children are constantly planning their next move, judging distances, solving problems and learning how their body moves through space. These experiences help lay important foundations for confidence, motor planning and future learning.

One rung at a time, they’re building strong bodies, growing brains and discovering what they’re capable of. 💜

💜 Myth:
“It doesn’t matter if your baby skips crawling.”

💜 Fact:
Crawling and creeping help build the foundations for coordination, balance, vision, body awareness, and communication between the two sides of the brain. While some babies do walk without crawling, it’s a developmental stage worth encouraging wherever possible.

💜 How BabyROO Supports Development:
Our BabyROO classes provide tummy time, movement activities, sensory experiences, and opportunities to develop the strength, coordination, and confidence needed for crawling and creeping.

💜 Remember:
GymbaROO is just a small snippet of your week. The biggest gains come from what happens at home through daily floor play, tummy time, opportunities to move freely, and lots of encouragement to explore.

💜 Try This at Home:
• Allow plenty of supervised floor time each day.
• Limit time in containers such as swings, bouncers, and seats.
• Place toys just out of reach to encourage movement.
• Get down on the floor and play alongside your baby.
• Celebrate effort, not just milestones.

Enrolments for Term 3 in our Maitland and Branxton centres are opening soon. Go onto our waitlist — Term 3 starts from July 20th.
