Fire and Rescue NSW Station 371 Macksville

Fire and Rescue NSW Station 371 Macksville Macksvile (371) is a Retained Fire Station with 15 staff On Call to assist the community.

As one of the world's largest urban fire and rescue services, we manage fire emergencies in NSW's major cities and towns. We respond to rescues, hazardous materials incidents and possible terrorism activities across the State. We work with other government agencies to minimise the impact of bushfires, storms, floods, landslides, building collapses, motor vehicle accidents and other emergencies. We

also run prevention and preparedness programs to prevent these emergencies and reduce their impact on the community.

πŸš’ Learning Never Stops πŸš’

Recently, two of our Deputy Captains travelled to Sydney to take part in further leadership and development training with Fire and Rescue NSW.

The course covered a wide range of topics including incident management, fire investigation, community risk reduction, mental health awareness, and leading teams in dynamic and challenging environments.

While firefighting is often what people see, there's a lot that happens behind the scenes to ensure our crews are ready to respond, support the community, and look after one another. Opportunities like this help build knowledge, leadership skills, and stronger outcomes both on and off the fireground.

It's always great to see members continuing to develop their skills and bring new ideas and experience back to the station.

A few days in Sydney, plenty of learning, and thankfully no homework to bring back with them!

πŸš’ Did You Know Your Local Firefighters Are On Call 24/7?

When the pager goes off, our retained firefighters leave their homes, families, dinners, workplaces and beds to respond to emergencies across our community.

From fires and car accidents to storm damage and rescues, our crews are ready to respond when needed, day or night.

Most people do not realise that many regional firefighters are everyday locals:

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”§ Tradespeople
πŸ‘©β€πŸ’Ό Retail workers
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŒΎ Farmers
πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ Parents

…who step up to protect their community when the call comes in.

πŸ”₯ Ever wondered what it is like behind the station doors?

Come down to our Open Day this Saturday and meet the crew, check out the trucks and gear, and learn more about what we do.

πŸš’ Weekly Wrap – Station 371 Macksville

It’s been another steady week for our crew, responding to a range of incidents across the Mid North Coast.

This week we attended:
β€’ Smoke alarm activation in South West Rocks (stood down en route)
β€’ Report of a fire in Kempsey (stood down en route)
β€’ Motor vehicle accident at Stuarts Point
β€’ Tree down across a road in Macksville

While not every call requires our crews on scene, every response is treated seriously to ensure the safety of our community.

🌧️ With cooler weather and changing conditions, now is a great time to:
β€’ Check your smoke alarms are working
β€’ Take care on the roads, especially at night and in wet conditions
β€’ Be mindful of hazards like fallen trees after wind or rain

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ Our firefighters are always ready to respond when needed, but we’re always looking for more locals to join the team.

πŸš’ WE’RE RECRUITING – FRNSW MACKSVILLE STATION 371 πŸš’

Have you ever thought about becoming a firefighter?

Fire and Rescue NSW Station 371 Macksville is currently looking for on call firefighters to join our team. We are especially looking for people with daytime availability.

This is your chance to serve your community, learn real life saving skills, and be part of a tight, supportive crew.

πŸ”₯ What we do
Our firefighters respond to a wide range of incidents including house fires, car accidents, rescues, hazardous materials and alarms. No two calls are the same.

⏰ Why daytime availability matters
During the day, many people are at work which can make it harder to crew the truck. If you work locally, have flexible hours, are self employed, or are available during the day, you could be exactly who we need.

πŸ’ͺ What we’re looking for
β€’ Reliable and motivated people
β€’ Team players who can stay calm under pressure
β€’ A reasonable level of fitness
β€’ People who live or work in Macksville
β€’ No experience needed as full training is provided

🎯 What you’ll get
β€’ Paid training and ongoing development
β€’ Skills that can save lives
β€’ Strong mateship and team culture
β€’ The opportunity to make a real difference in your community

This is more than just a job. It is a chance to be part of something bigger and to step up when your community needs you most.

πŸš’ Weekly Brigade Update πŸš’

Another solid week on the ground for our crew.

Over the past week we responded to:
β€’ 1 oil spill
β€’ 2 Automatic Fire Alarms
β€’ 1 standby
β€’ 1 building fire

On top of our callouts, we also completed our Operational Assurance Review, making sure our training, procedures and readiness are exactly where they need to be.

It’s a good reminder that not all the work happens with lights and sirens. A lot goes on behind the scenes to make sure we’re ready when the pager goes off.

Huge thanks to our members for giving up their time, whether that’s turning out to incidents, completing reviews, or supporting each other.

We’re recruiting now. Applications to become an on-call firefighter close February 17. If you want to give back to your community, gain real skills, and be part of a strong local team, this is your chance. No experience needed, just commitment and a willingness to step up.
