Hunter Area Championships: The Lower North Coast hosted this biennial event at the Macksville Showgrounds: Sat 20/Sun 21 June:

Eight teams represented multiple Zones within the Hunter Area Command: Lower North Coast Zone: North Macksville, Temagog, Valla, Clybucca.
Lower Hunter Zone: Vacy
Central Coast Zone: Composite Team
Mid Coast Zone: Tuncurry

* The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers tested their fire fighting emergency response capabilities in a range of scenarios over the 2 days

Crews were tested across a series of practical fire fighting scenarios designed to replicate challenges commonly encountered on the fire ground.

Whilst focusing on core skills & challenges the competition also builds teamwork, shared knowledge, dedication, camaraderie, pride and more.

The competition embodies the volunteer spirit that underpins the NSW RFS
🏆 Huge congratulations to the Vacy Brigade (Current NSW Rural Fire Service State Champions) who took out the overall win.

👏👏👏 Valla Brigade also deserves a special mention with 4 of 5 team members from the same family.

Tuncurry & The Composite Crew from Central Coast have qualified to compete along side Vacy at the State Championships in Dubbo later this year, each area command in the state will put forward 2 teams to compete for the big prize.

👏👏👏 The Capt addressed, with pride, the North Macksville team, acknowledging “their determination, resilience, positivity, and teamwork

🚒 🌳🍃 🧭 🗺️📍 Operate In Remote Environments course - RFS
North Macksville RFS member joined brigade members from Talarm & Temagog to engage in 2day training early May, in the Lidsdale State Forest near Lithgow, with a recent assessment day in same location
The Lower North Coast crew joined 5 groups who came from all over NSW
Course incl: practical & theory
Pre-requisites: Advanced FF: First Aid Application: Arduous Med & Pack Test
Instructors covered:
🧭 Map & compass navigation in trackless environments with several legs/stages to complete
🗺️ At ea waypoint/grid ref scenariosp covered: * medical emergency * requesting a helicopter * setting up a hooch/tent
🥶 12* thankfully no rain

Good luck Liz

Today we congratulated our Manager following her promotion to Area Commander – North-East.

We would like to sincerely thank Chief Superintendent Liz Ferris for her leadership, support, and commitment during her time with the District.

Liz’s contribution to our members, brigades, staff, and communities has been greatly valued and appreciated.

While we are sad to see Liz leave, this promotion is a well-deserved recognition of her dedication and leadership.

Congratulations on your new role, and thank you for everything you have contributed to the District. We wish you all the very best for the future.

🌳🚒🌧️🫨😮‍💨 At approx 5 pm Thurs May 28th, a gum tree fell onto Giinagay Way near Teagues Creek.
The Nambucca Heads SES & Fire and Rescue 397 arrived on scene quickly and began the job of clearing the tree to allow traffic flow
The efficiency of the teams had the road cleared, washed down and traffic moving through at approx 6.15/6.30
Awesome work

AGM 14 May - Changing of the Guard …
It was with great sadness that the Nth Macksville RFS recently learned that our highly regarded Captain,Terry, had chosen to step down
The AGM therefore saw the induction of the new Captain, Chris - congratulations Chris
