Disappointing news.
For a few years now, Murri Watch have been supporting young people withheld in 16 watch houses across Queensland, ensuring their well being, and maintaining their connection to needed services, family, community and culture.
We regret to advise that this service will be coming to an end at the completion of the funding contract as of 30th June 2026.
Our team have been proud to stand alongside young people during some of their most challenging moments, offering guidance, advocacy and culturally informed support.
Moving post 30th June, if a young First Nations person requires support while being detaining in any of the following watch houses
Brisbane, Caboolture, Pine Rivers, Redcliffe, Mareeba, Caloundra, Maroochydore, Toowoomba, Cairns, Ipswich, Townsville, Mackay, Beenleigh, Richlands, Cleveland or Southport, assistance can be provided by contacting Youth Justice After Hours:

1300 343 299 – Stakeholder line
1300 456 033 – Police line
As we work toward concluding service delivery, we extend our sincere thanks to the communities, families, stakeholders and our front line staff who have been impacted by this service, and supported this work, sharing our commitment to improving outcomes for our young people. We are grateful to have been able to play this crucial role for our Community, ensuring our young people are safe, and their rights and dignity upheld.
While this chapter is closing, our dedication to supporting our community remains unchanged and we will continue to explore opportunities to contribute to positive outcomes for children and young people across Queensland.
