🥕🍎 TASTE IT TUESDAYS – TERM 3 WRAP-UP! 🍉🥒

Our Junior Campus Taste It Tuesdays have officially wrapped up for Term 3! 🎉

Over the term, our students have embraced the opportunity to taste, explore and discover new fruits and vegetables. 🌱💚

It has been fantastic to see so many students getting involved — with some even being brave enough to try fruits and veggies they had never tasted before!🙌😋

From “I’ve never tried this!” to “Can I have another one?” — we’ve loved watching our students become more curious and adventurous with healthy foods. 💚

We are incredibly proud to be a 2026 Pick of the Crop School! 🥦🍓🌽

A huge thank you to our wonderful students, families and staff for supporting our Taste It Tuesdays and helping us promote healthy kids, healthy choices and brighter tomorrows! 🌈💚

📚❤️ THE 2026 GREAT INDIGENOUS BOOK SWAP IS COMING! This THURSDAY!!!

We’re excited to invite our school community to take part in the Great Indigenous Book Swap — a wonderful fundraising and social justice initiative celebrating books, reading and the power of literacy.

This year, we’re supporting the incredible work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, helping raise much-needed funds for Indigenous libraries and children.

📅 Thursday, 10 September 2026
📍 Mackay West State School – Senior & Junior Libraries
⏰ First Break: 11:00am–11:40am

📖 How can students participate?
Students simply need to bring:
📚 A good-quality book to swap
🪙 A gold coin donation

Books should be of excellent quality and brought to the Junior or Senior Libraries by Wednesday, 9 September.

Every gold coin donation goes towards supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and its important literacy work.

🌟Come along, swap a great book, discover a new favourite and make a difference to an Indigenous child!

Our brand-new playground is almost ready, and you can feel the excitement growing every day! 🤩

Our students have become the official playground watchers — keeping a very close eye on the workers, machinery and every little bit of progress. 🚜 They’re already imagining the adventures, games and fun that are just around the corner!

There’s a lot of anticipation across the school as we get closer to the big reveal… and we’re pretty sure some of our students are ready to move in tomorrow! 😂💙💛

Is your child starting Year 7 at Mackay State High School in 2027?
We are excited to offer $500 P&C Scholarships to support students as they begin their Mackay High journey.

Scholarships are available across three areas:

🏅 Sporting Excellence & Potential
🎨 Arts & Cultural Excellence
Students are welcome to apply in more than one category where appropriate.

📄 In-catchment students: Application forms can be collected from your primary school office.
