19 June | MSHS Today we REMEMBERED TODAY we CELEBRATED | Full School Memorial Gathering in a Kakadu for Mena shared with his wife Shey, his parents, his children & family & friends.
Today we hosted a Mena Mixed Touch Carnival, marking 12 months since Mena’s passing and celebrating the incredible CLONTARF Director, Chief, staff member he was to many and the footprint he has left on our school and students since 2020.
‘Menu Cup’ 31 teams participated and more than 60 games played, the day was a powerful tribute to Mena’s legacy—bringing people together through sport, connection and wider Mackay community.
A huge thank you to the local High Schools & staff who joined us: Mirani State High School, Northern Beaches State High School, St Patrick’s College and Mackay Christian College. Thank you also to Mena’s wife, Shey, and Mena’s family for being with us as we honoured such an amazing man.
We are incredibly grateful to Mackay Touch Football for providing volunteer referees, Deadly Choices and AITCHS health for their donations, Clontarf for the BBQ, and our ACCESS Centre for preparing frozen treats for the day. Our principal Felicity, the Leadership team who made this event possible. Shout out to our Deputy Cicely & CEC Lakeesha for your drive and work behind the scenes. It was a great success seeing the students mingle, laugh & play all day.
This was only the beginning, we want Mena’s Mixed Touch Carnival to stay on the calendar, we hope to see more schools join us as we celebrate Mena through connecting with community in sport.
