🀝 Support Coordinators play an important role in helping people stay on track with their goalsβ€”so let’s clear up a few common myths.

Myth: Support Coordinators only work with clients.
Fact: Support coordinators work with clients, their families, carers and stakeholder teams to develop and implement individualised support plans that align with their goals and aspirations while maximising the utilisation of the available NDIS funding.

Myth: Support Coordinators are advocates
Fact: While support Coordinators may advocate for clients in relation to NDIS supports, they do not take on the role of a formal advocate or take legal action on behalf of the client

Myth: Support Coordinators can provide daily face to face supports
Fact: A Support Coordinator does not provide direct support or care services themselves or do rosters, administration or intake for direct supports

Myth: Support Coordinators don’t do much at all
Fact: The role of a Support Coordinator can sometimes appear to be somewhat invisible. Support Coordinators spend a lot of time doing things such as research, service exploration, documentation, report writing, reading and analysing provider reports, assisting plan managers, budgets, referrals, research, passing on information, developing communication plans, arranging meetings and so on. Our job is to ensure your team runs effectively. Not everything we do is face to face or prominent, but everything we do is essential to making sure that your team stays on track.

πŸ’™ Have you heard any of these myths before? We’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences in the comments!
