❄️ Winter Home Safety – What to Watch For 🏠
As the weather cools down, it’s easy to overlook how small changes at home can increase the risk of falls.
Here are a few simple things to keep in mind 👇
👣 Common winter hazards:
Wet floors from rain or condensation, slippery surfaces, stiff joints, and even things like heater cords can increase the risk of a fall.
✅ Easy ways to stay safe at home:
• Keep walkways clear and clutter-free
• Place cords safely along walls
• Use mats near doors to catch moisture
• Clean and dry floors regularly
• Stay warm, especially overnight, to help your body move safely
⚠️ What’s often overlooked?
Not preparing early enough for seasonal changes. Winter can sneak up on us!
🔥 A quick reminder about heaters & electric blankets:
While they keep us warm, faulty or damaged appliances can pose a risk of electrical fires—always check they’re in good working order.
💡Important:
If you have a fall, hit your head, or feel different afterwards, call Triple Zero (000).
Let’s stay safe this winter and support our clients, families, and community to do the same 💙
