❄️ Winter Home Safety – What to Watch For 🏠

As the weather cools down, it’s easy to overlook how small changes at home can increase the risk of falls.

Here are a few simple things to keep in mind 👇
👣 Common winter hazards:
Wet floors from rain or condensation, slippery surfaces, stiff joints, and even things like heater cords can increase the risk of a fall.

✅ Easy ways to stay safe at home:
• Keep walkways clear and clutter-free
• Place cords safely along walls
• Use mats near doors to catch moisture
• Clean and dry floors regularly
• Stay warm, especially overnight, to help your body move safely

⚠️ What’s often overlooked?
Not preparing early enough for seasonal changes. Winter can sneak up on us!

🔥 A quick reminder about heaters & electric blankets:
While they keep us warm, faulty or damaged appliances can pose a risk of electrical fires—always check they’re in good working order.

💡Important:
If you have a fall, hit your head, or feel different afterwards, call Triple Zero (000).
Let’s stay safe this winter and support our clients, families, and community to do the same 💙

“National Reconciliation Week is a reminder that every conversation matters. It’s a chance to talk with my community about how we can all contribute every single day,” says proud Meriam Mir man Gavin.

The conversations we have today shape the Queensland we build tomorrow.
This National Reconciliation Week, 27 May to 3 June, let’s reflect on the role each of us can play in building a Queensland where everyone can thrive socially, economically and culturally.
