Fire Danger Season over, but the risk is still there.......

Today .... 1st May saw a number of grass fires attended by the CFS Crews due to the above normal higher temperatures and dry weather conditions, like the one that started in Lyndoch.

CFS Crews from Lyndoch, Concordia and Williamstown Brigades attended a fire burning along the creek bed and into the paddock.

Fire was attended by approximately 17 firefighters with 4x Fire Appliances and 1x Bulk Water Carrier.

Fire was accidental and CFS Crews had the fire contained, extinguished and all returned to their prospective Stations within a few hours.

Well done to all the CFS Crews who attended.

AWESOME SUPPORT TO CFS, BY LYNDOCH HOTEL

The continued support by Rhys and Sandy is amazing and the the Lyndoch CFS Brigade can't thank them enough for assisting us with raising additional funds.

The SA Country Fire Service overall is a very well established, professional Volunteer Fire Service which operates on an annual budget. However, there are a number of items that are not achievable without raising additional funds for Brigade projects. .

Like our current project is to restore the original Fire Appliance, Lyndoch 47. She is over 50 years old and needing some TLC and of course, fund raising dollars to bring her back to her original glory.

So, without people like Rhys and Sandy, this would never happen...... "THANK YOU, LYNDOCH HOTEL"

TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for Tuesday 31 March 2026 in the following Fire Ban Districts:

Mount Lofty Ranges - Extreme

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted.

The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow.

The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan.

Fire Danger Ratings
Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

What should you do
If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.

In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.

Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions

Elevated Fire Danger Forecast – Stay Alert πŸ”₯

This is a timely reminder that we are not out of Fire Danger Season yet.

South Australia will be on heightened alert tomorrow as High and Extreme Fire Danger Ratings are forecast for multiple districts across the state due to increased fuel loads, and hot and windy conditions.

Avoid any activities such as:
❌ Having campfires or comfort fires
❌ Using machinery or power tools
❌ Conducting burn offs on your property

If you have recently conducted a burn off, please ensure that it is fully extinguished as they can reignite if the conditions permit.

Fire conditions can deteriorate rapidly. Stay informed by monitoring current warnings and alerts on multiple channels and always follow advice from emergency services.

TRAINING WITH OUR MATES.....
Sometimes our training includes inviting one of our neighbouring Brigades, like Concordia, so we can continue developing the strong working bond we have with our mates.

Last Wednesday was about teamwork, branch technique and control. The crews from both Lyndoch and Concordia had to control a large ball, going slightly uphill and needed to get the ball through several sets of cones..... then to change over crews and do it again, and again, and again.

By the end of the night, crews were working well together and took only half the time from when they first started....... great night training together!

FFU's....... Our Local Legends, Our Farmers

Just a shout out for our local farmers, who will quite often attend in their FFU'S ..... Farmers Fire-Fighting Units, to slow the rate of spread or containing the fire, like happened today.

A cars hot exhaust in long dry grass started a fire in Rowland Flat and a call went through to 000 for CFS to attend a grass fire on the side of road. Before the first CFS Appliance arrived, several farmers in their FFU'S had the fire contained.

The farmers quick response reduced what could've been a lot worse and it also reduces the time for CFS spent on the fireground.

Awesome work by our FFU'S..... THANKS πŸ‘
