At its upcoming meeting this Wednesday 17 June, Council will discuss and vote on a number of reports, including:

💬 Feedback received during public consultation for the Annual Business Plan

📚 The adoption of valuation, rates and Annual Business Plan for 2026/27

📉 The adoption of the Draft Long Term Financial Plan for 2027-2036, following public consultation

🧾 Proposed fees and charges for the 2026/27 financial year

📨 A rate rebate application

📄 The adoption of the reviewed Asset Accounting Policy and Full Cost Attribution Policy

🅿️ Overflow parking for Warrawee Lodge residents under an annual licence

✈️ The endorsement of a long-term hangar ground lease at the Waikerie Aerodrome, following public consultation

🏫 Crown land dedication requirements for the soon to be former Woodleigh site

🪖 Amendments to the proposed lease renewal for the Waikerie Army Cadets

🏊‍♂️ Support for the 2029 SA Country Swimming Championships to be held at the Loxton Swimming Pool

🌻 Endorsement of the Draft Riverland Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026-2030, subject to endorsement from the Berri Barmera and Renmark Paringa Councils

🪧 A request for signage installation from the Kingston on Murray Primary School

🚧 The endorsement of the proposed 2026/27 road resealing program

🚐 The adoption of the Mobile Food Vending Policy

📮 The Council will allocate a portion the meeting, commencing at 9am, to speak with the community about the draft Annual Business Plan and Long Term Financial Plan.

🗣️ Council will then be presented with a deputation from Julie Bates from Regional Development Association Murraylands Riverland.

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦!

This free leadership program will support 10 young people aged 15–17 to develop leadership skills through volunteering, workshops and practical involvement within local sporting clubs.

Participants will have the opportunity to attain 10 SACE credits through alignment with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award framework, while developing valuable skills in leadership, communication, coaching, officiating and community involvement.

To ensure strong regional representation, two participants will be selected from each major Riverland township:

📍 Barmera
📍 Renmark

If you know a young person who demonstrates leadership potential, positive attitudes, reliability and a passion for community sport and recreation, encourage them to apply.

The Loxton North Recreation Grounds is hosting Rural Aid volunteers from 30 May to 6 June, with approximately 20–25 caravans on site during this period.

Rural Aid volunteers travel across Australia supporting primary producers and rural communities impacted by natural disasters and challenging conditions. Their Farm Recovery Team assists with practical on-farm tasks including fencing repairs, clearing fallen trees, general clean-ups, garden maintenance and more - helping local producers tackle jobs that often get pushed aside during difficult times.

Rural Aid is also exploring the opportunity to host a Farm Recovery Event in Loxton in 2026 to further support local primary producers.

Riverland residents aged 55 and over are invited to embrace creativity, connection and lifelong learning through Season of Creativity - a vibrant new community program running from July to September 2026.

Delivered by the District Council of Loxton Waikerie and funded through the Office for Ageing Well’s 2025-2026 Age Friendly SA grant program, Season of Creativity will offer 13 different workshop styles across multiple sessions, all provided free of charge to participants and hosted at the Loxton Retirement Village Community Centre.

The program has been designed to encourage Riverlanders to discover new hobbies, build creative skills and enjoy meaningful social experiences in a welcoming and supportive environment. Activities will range from hands-on workshops to engaging cultural experiences, all aimed at promoting self-expression, lifelong learning and stronger community connection.

Whether you’re keen to try something new, connect with others, or rediscover a creative passion, there’s something for everyone.

🚧 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 🚧

Council has released two (2) Request for Tenders for design and construction services at both the Loxton and Waikerie Wastewater Treatment plants.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗼:

💧 Increase Wastewater capacity in Waikerie to support an additional 628 domestic connections and trade wastewater.

💧 Upgrade wastewater treatment plant in Loxton to allow for unrestricted reuse of wastewater and reduce flooding near showgrounds and sports fields
