A very special shoutout to Guardian Angels Animal Rescue Incorporation

We’re incredibly grateful for the ongoing support they’ve given us, helping dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages 🐾

Most recently, they’ve opened their hearts to Striker, a gorgeous 13-year-old Chihuahua who still has such a vibrant energy.

Striker is now off to start his next chapter, where he can spend his golden years safe, loved and comfortable, with the support of Guardian Angels Animal Rescue Incorporation✨

Senior dogs deserve to be given the same chance at happiness as anyone else, and thanks to rescues like Guardian Angels, Striker gets to enjoy the retirement he deserves 🐶

Thank you, Guardian Angels, for always showing up for the dogs who need you most. We’re so grateful to have you in their corner!

It’s Our Place, Our Future — join the conversation today and help shape the Lithgow LGA towards 2050.

We have developed a discussion paper on COMPANION ANIMALS AND RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP and invite your feedback. We’re not simply asking whether you agree or disagree, and there are no right or wrong answers. We’re asking you to share your experiences, your ideas and your aspirations for the future.

Some of the best ideas come from the people who know Lithgow best—those who live, work, volunteer, study or run businesses here every day.

Your feedback will help Council understand not only what matters most, but why, so we can make better decisions about where to focus our efforts and resources.

COMPANION ANIMIALS AND RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP is one of a suite of discussion papers which explore the opportunities, challenges and future directions on a range of topics across the Lithgow Local Government Area.
They have been prepared to inform community discussion, gather local knowledge and ideas, and help shape the Community Strategic Plan Towards 2050. Your feedback will help identify priorities and guide future planning, advocacy and decision-making.

The discussion papers are the start of the conversation, not the end. Your feedback will be considered alongside technical studies, demographic information, expert advice and further community engagement to help shape the Community Strategic Plan Towards 2050. We’ll share what we heard, what we learned, and how community feedback helped shape the final Community Strategic Plan.

Every conversation helps shape the future. No single organisation can achieve this alone. The future of the Lithgow LGA will be shaped through partnerships between our community, businesses, industry, government and education providers.

Can you help us find our way home? 🐾

These two nervous kitties were admitted this week and are both hoping to be reunited with their families as soon as possible.

Neither cat is microchipped, so we haven’t been able to get in contact with their owner.

If you believe either cat may be yours, please contact the shelter directly.

To claim, please contact Lithgow Council on (02) 6354 9999.

Proof of ownership (such as registration details, veterinary records, or photographs) will be required prior to release.

✨ September is off to a VERY exciting start! ✨

We’ve got two wonderful adoptions to celebrate this week - Sausage Roll and Crouton have both found their forever homes! 🥹

Over the past week, these two sweet cats have each headed off to their new adventures, in two different homes. While we’ll miss them, we couldn’t be more excited to see them starting this next chapter.

Congratulations, Sausage Roll & Crouton! We’ll miss you!

Meet Ramen 🍜

A sweet, slightly nervous boy who takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does, he’s all soft eyes, gentle affection and questionable facial expressions.

He may not understand what “smile” means, but he’s very happy to cooperate.

And yes, he is extremely handsome.

All throughout the year, animals arrive at our shelter as strays. Without a microchip, far too few are able to be matched back to their original owners, where they go on to be rehomed or transferred to rescue organisations.

Over the past year, less than half of our stray dogs and just 11% of stray cats were reunited with their families.

A microchip can make all the difference.

If you own a pet:
- Make sure they are microchipped
- Keep your contact details up to date
- If you rehome your animal, make sure the microchip is transferred to the new owner
- If you've recently adopted an animal, check the chip has been transferred into your name

Need to microchip your animal? We offer microchipping by scheduled appointment, or you can book an appointment with your local vet.

A microchip only works if the information attached to it is current.

Microchip your animal. Keep it updated. Help us get them home 🐾

Anchovy has been matched with her furever family! 🐾💖

From Anchovy to Juno - this gorgeous little girl has officially found her forever home.

She will happily play with a broken toy while surrounded by intact toys and a cattery floor covered in even more options. Apparently, she knows what she likes! 😹

We’re so happy this sweet, playful little girl has found her people. Enjoy your happily ever after, Juno!

This gorgeous mini foxie was found yesterday in Lithgow and is hoping to be reunited with his family as soon as possible.

The microchip is not up to date and so we have not been able to get in contact with the owner.

Kernel’s matched with his furever family🐾❤️

Gorgeous Kernel headed off to his new home this week, and we couldn’t be happier to hear that he’s already settled in and loving life! 🥰

Squash could often be found snoozing out the front, keeping an eye on everything going on like a good guardian of the shelter…

If there's pats on offer though, it's every man (or dog) for themselves 😂

We're so happy that Squash (now Ace) has found his furever home, but Rhubarb is still waiting for his. Rhubarb is such a funny, affectionate boy and we'd love to see him get his own happy ending too.
