URGENT ATTENTION: Make your submission by Friday 16 October 2026 to prevent the Minns Labor Government waving through another 20 years of destruction to our native forests and wildlife. Submission link in comments.

"Native forest logging has been exempt from Australia's national environment laws for decades. Killing koalas and greater gliders, burying wombats alive and destroying the homes and food of wild birds, and so many other forest dependent threatened species.

The reason this loophole has existed all this time is simple, if logging were assessed under national environment laws - it would be illegal!

On 1 July next year, that exemption finally ends because the Greens in Parliament forced the Government’s hand. This should be the end for native forest logging in NSW.

But instead of holding this destructive industry to the law, the Minns Labor Government is working with the Commonwealth to secure a new 20-year approval that could allow native forest logging to continue without individual federal environmental assessments." Sue Higginson
