It’s National Volunteer Week — a good reminder that communities like Lindenow don’t run by accident.
Behind the local sports clubs, school groups, community events, emergency services, committees and fundraisers are people quietly giving their time to make this community stronger.
At Lindenow CFA, our members volunteer to train, respond and support the community — but we’re just one part of a much bigger volunteer network that keeps small towns like ours going.
To every volunteer in our community: thank you.
This place is better because people choose to get involved. If you've ever thought about getting involved, now is a great time. Visit www.cfa.vic.gov.au/volunteer or message us directly to find out more.

It’s always great to see local volunteers recognised for the contribution they make to their communities.

A huge congratulations to Zoe from Meerlieu Rural Fire Brigade on this well-deserved recognition from the CFA. We know firsthand the commitment, care and community spirit she brings to her brigade.

If you’ve ever wondered whether there’s a place for you in a local brigade — there probably is. Volunteer brigades are built by ordinary people stepping up for the communities they care about.

After moving home to her local town of Meerlieu, just 2km from the fire shed, Zoe Blandford jumped at the opportunity to volunteer for CFA to reconnect and lend a hand. 🙋🏼‍♀️🚒

With a background in mining in WA as part of the emergency response team, Zoe’s skillset has been a valuable asset to CFA and one she has found to be extremely transferrable! 🌟

To celebrate 80 years of service, we invited local kids to design what firefighting might look like in another 80 years — and they delivered with creativity, colour and big ideas.

From high-tech trucks to flying firefighting machines, these drawings remind us that the next generation is full of imagination and community spirit.

Thank you to every young artist who took part and helped make our 80th birthday extra special. We loved seeing the future through your eyes.

We also have some special prizes to deliver to the winning entries at their schools in the coming weeks. Without giving it away, we'd like to thank Lindenow General Store for their generous donation. They are always supporting us to support our community.

Cold last night?
Yeah, us too — so if your wood heater’s back on, it’s time for a chimney check.

A clean chimney isn’t just about efficiency — it’s about safety. Creosote build-up is one of the most common causes of chimney fires in winter.

Before you settle in for the season, please take a moment to:
• Check your chimney and flue are clean and clear
• Make sure there’s no visible build-up or blockages
• Ensure your fire is operating safely and efficiently
• Never leave a fire unattended

Stay warm — and stay safe doing it.

We really appreciate everyone who came along to our Open Day despite the very wet and windy conditions. It was great to spend time with those who were able to make it and share what we do as your local volunteer brigade.

A special thank you to Eastey Fire Trucks Inc for bringing along our restored Godiva pump for a visit — it was fantastic to see a piece of Lindenow’s history back at the station.

We’d also like to thank all the young creatives who entered our “Future of Firefighting” design competition. The imagination and ideas on display were brilliant — winners will be announced shortly.

Thanks again for your support.
