VIPER Taskforce and To***co Licensing Victoria (TLV) continue to target organised crime groups profiting from the illicit to***co trade, with 100 stores now closed under new enforcement powers.

Since the powers came into effect on 9 September, investigators have seized more than four million illicit ci******es, 70,000 vapes, 3 tonnes of to***co, and approximately $1M in cash.

So far, VIPER taskforce and TLV have visited stores in Melbourne C*D, Tarneit, Truganina, Deer Park, Hoppers Crossing, Werribee, South Yarra, Prahran, St Kilda, Geelong, Footscray, Frankston, Dandenong, Craigieburn, Broadmeadows, Sunbury, Lalor, Ringwood, Caulfield, Boronia, Lilydale, Moe, Morwell.

The operation remains ongoing with VIPER Taskforce continuing to target illicit to***co stores linked to organised crime, including syndicates with offshore leadership.

Belgrave Police have received reports of youths engaging in anti-social and unsafe behaviour at Upwey Skatepark while using e-scooters and e-bikes.

👮 Police are actively patrolling the area and enforcing relevant legislation. Where children are found breaching the rules, police will be contacting their parents or guardians.

Keeping our community safe is a shared responsibility. We ask parents to speak with their children about riding legally, behaving responsibly and respecting the safety of others.

Thinking of buying an e-scooter? 🛴

Not all e-scooters are legal to ride in Victoria.

A legal e-scooter must 👇:

- Have a max speed capability of 25 km/h
- Only be ridden by aged 16+ wearing a helmet
- Be ridden at a maximum speed of 20km/h
- Have two wheels, a handlebar and a footboard
- Weigh less than 45 kg.

Expecting Police to turn up ❌

On Friday 8th October 2026, Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol were patrolling Mt Donna Buang, Warburton - when they came across a hoon meet. Approximately 12 vehicles and numerous people were in attendance and scattered like rats from a sinking ship. One P plater decided to stay for a chat and was issued a couple of infringement notices, costing him over $1500. He was issued a Section 13(2) RSA notice to produce his vehicle for inspection at Lilydale on 10th October, where he subsequently received a defect notice.

Victoria Police officers are increasing their visible presence at Chirnside Park Shopping Centre. As part of a proactive community safety initiative, local police are working with security staff and shopping centre management to addresses common issues such as opportunistic shoplifting, property damage and public disturbances, to ensure Chirnside Park Shopping Centre remains a welcoming and safe space for the entire outer-east community. As part of our commitment, Victoria Police are deploying a high-tech Mobile Police Facility directly to the retail precinct. Shoppers and retail staff can speak directly to a Police Officer, report non-urgent matters or share community safety concerns without leaving the centre. We managed to capture this picture with the Mobile Police Facility parked next to our friends from Ambulance Victoria.
