The Resilience Project.
One of the strategies that we will be using at LHC this year as part of the Resilience Project are GEM chats. GEM chats are brief conversations (typically 2-5 minutes) that encourage us to practice Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. Rain couldn’t stop our incredible Year 11 VCE VM students from making the inaugural LHC Makers Market a massive success!
After spending the entire year planning, designing, and crafting, our students officially opened their market stalls last Thursday. Despite the wet weather, their hard work completely paid off, and the turnout from our student and staff was incredible!

Year 10 Outdoor Education

Last Monday, students headed to Lilydale Lake Mountain Bike Skills Park, where they worked on building their trail-riding skills and improving their fitness. Then on the Wednesday, the class spent a full day at Lysterfield Park, tackling around 14km of mountain bike trails.

Students showed incredible resilience throughout the week — for some, it was their very first time riding on trails! They also displayed real determination, powering through some challenging hill climbs along the way. It was challenging but a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved.

✨ Congratulations to the incredible cast and crew of Grease! ✨

What a season of performances it has been. Night after night, our audiences were blown away — not just by the talent shining on stage, but by the dedication and hard work happening behind the scenes.

Students from every year level came together and poured months of passion, energy and teamwork into bringing this production to life, and the result was amazing.

Every year, our school productions seem to reach new heights, and this one was no exception. We could not be prouder of every student and staff member who made it happen.

A very special thank you to Ms Clark, Ms Delaney and Ms Bassett, whose dedication and countless hours behind the scenes helped make this production such an incredible experience for our students.

🏐 Our New Outdoor Volleyball Space 🏐

Our 2026 Active Schools project is officially up and running, with students loving the new Outdoor Volleyball and 9 Square space! A Staff vs Students match kicked off the fun, and it’s fantastic to see students continuing to use the space to move, play and connect during break times and for active brain breaks during class.

Our Year 10 Physics classes spent a day at Lilydale Flying School, putting their classroom learning into action in a truly hands-on way.

During the visit, students explored the concept of lift, how control surfaces affect flight, and the importance of weight distribution. They then had the exciting opportunity to experience a real flight in a Piper aeroplane over the Yarra Valley, as well as take the controls themselves in a flight simulator. They even flew over LHC!

Students also visited the hangars, where they learned about aeroplane maintenance and viewed a range of aircraft up close.

Hands On Learning
Hands on Learning students have created some fantastic, handcrafted toolboxes for Father’s Day!

From planning and measuring to constructing and finishing, students have put their practical skills to work and created something unique to gift to their dads or a special person in their lives. These toolboxes showcase the value of Hands on Learning, developing skills in creativity, problem-solving and accuracy.

Well done to our students on their fantastic work and the skills they have demonstrated throughout the process!
