Leeman BFB conducted fuel reduction burns around Leeman on Sunday. We would like to thank Green Head BFB for the crew support, Leeman members Luke, Karlie, Laura, Lachlan and John for all the efforts they put in along with our CESM Mick and Mitigation Officer Giulia. Not to mention a special thanks to Steve for helping set up and patrol the burn.
We would also like to thank a big brigade supporter, our unofficial photographer Sue-Anne McDonald for the magic shot she captured.
We will be patrolling the burns for the next few days, so we ask locals to please stay out of the burn areas for at least a week. Thank you.

Afternoon Everyone, on Sunday and Monday the brigade will be conducting fuel reduction burns in the Leeman Area. We will be starting from 0800hrs Sunday morning, at the site just north of town. The brigade will try and leave a patch of land between the roadside and the scrub, fire breaks depending, however, there will be a small section that will go to the roadside.
The second burn will be adjacent the primary school. We will endeavour to have this done on Sunday also, so we don’t disrupt school going back on Monday.
Once these burns have been completed, the brigade will be patrolling them for a number of days. We ask all residents not to enter the burn areas from Saturday onwards. We will endeavour to keep smoke to a minimum impact to the town, but please be mindful of fire appliances moving around in the area.
If you have any questions please contact us and we will try to answer all your questions and concerns. Thank you.
