As many of you know, I’ve decided not to stand again at the recent Local Government elections. It’s been such a privilege to represent our city, both as Mayor and Councillor representing Altona Meadows, Laverton and Seabrook.
We now have a little fella in tow, and with a big day job, I’m keen to spend more time with him and my much better half Sar. I have given my all, had a ball, and am proud of all we’ve achieved.
For too long, the Western end of our city has been overlooked - but that’s started to change. There’s been significant investments in parks and sporting facilities as well as the Altona Meadows library. We planted tens of thousands semi-advanced trees, drove foot traffic to trading strips and made progress on increasing affordable housing, improving mental health services and preventing gambling harm. Seeing more than 800 young people connect with employers at our first Pathways to Work Expo was a real highlight. Most importantly, when people have got in touch often times facing adversity, I’ve done my very best to represent them fighting for a fair go.
Nothing progresses without all shoulders to the wheel - a massive thanks to so many people I’ve worked with over the journey to deliver for our community. I’ve loved working with so many passionate people who chip in to make our community a great place to live. See comments for a letter I sent to all voters in Wetlands Ward a couple of months ago.
Thanks for all your support, and lovely messages over the last few weeks. It’s meant a lot. Go well and look forward to connecting with many of you before too long ❤️
