One ember can end it 🔥
Most people have thought about what they might do during a bush fire, but many of these plans won't stand up to the test of a fire.

Making a plan and preparing your property can significantly reduce your risk. You need to make important decisions BEFORE a fire - such as where to go, what to take and what to do with your animals.

Check your plan now at myfireplan.com.au and live bush fire ready.

The Fire Danger Rating tomorrow, Thursday 8th January 2026, will be HIGH.

Be ready to act:
> There's a heightened risk. Be alert for fires in your area.
> Decide what you will do if a fire starts.
> If a fire starts, your life and property may be at risk. The safest option is to avoid bush fire risk areas.

Be aware of the risk of 🌾🔥Grass fires🔥🌾

Grass fires can start easily and spread quickly, destroying homes, crops and livelihoods.
✅There are steps you can take now, like mowing, slashing or clearing firebreaks, which can help stop a grass fire from spreading.
🚜Many fires start from machinery, so check yours now and ensure they're in good working order, and consider the weather conditions before mowing or slashing.

📷 These photos are from a grass fire our brigade responded to just yesterday afternoon.

🚒 Yesterday, Graham, Bruce, Sarah and Ross took Hannam Vale 7 to Bulahdelah. After a relatively calm morning blacking out hotspots, they were retasked to stop the spread of a fast-moving fire impacting properties along the Pacific Highway under strengthening winds.

With that threat contained, they were sent to Nerong, switching into property-protection mode as fire approached the township. Thanks to the work of waterbombing aircraft, and having reached their 12-hour fireground limit, the crew was able to be released from Nerong and returned home to rest before the next shift 💪🏼

Over the last several days many members of our brigade, alongside multiple RFS crews and partner agencies, have been actively responding to this fire, working long hours in challenging and dangerous conditions. The fire has been burning for nearly a week and requires a significant, ongoing response. Be aware that our truck is often called out of the valley. Please have a plan and be prepared in case we aren’t nearby when fire threatens.

Here are some photos from yesterday 🔥🚒
