The City of Launceston is joining councils and waste operators across Tasmania to help keep the Flammable Five out of household bins.

By disposing of these items safely, you're helping protect waste workers, vehicles and community infrastructure.

This much-loved play equipment will be carefully restored to preserve it for future generations.

We look forward to welcoming the stagecoach and horses back to their home in the Fairy Dell, looking refreshed and ready to carry young explorers on many more adventures. 🐴

Brand Tasmania is inviting residents to participate in a short survey about your experience: what is easy or hard about living in here, how connected you feel to your community and the things that may influence you to leave or stay here.

👀 You may have noticed this colourful creation appearing in Civic Square this week. 🧶✨

It's our new ARTBOX, a dedicated public art space designed to showcase the work of local artists and bring creativity into the heart of the city.

Over the past week, the ARTBOX has been wrapped in a vibrant patchwork of knitted and crocheted panels created by the incredible team at Interweave Arts, who have been bringing colour, creativity and connection to Launceston's streets for almost 30 years.

Underneath all that wool, Interweave artists have been hard at work creating and installing the first ARTBOX exhibition.

The knitted covering will be removed at 6pm tonight during World Street Eats, revealing the artwork inside. ✨

To mark the occasion, a special one-night-only projection will illuminate the façade of Town Hall.

The exhibition will remain on display until the end of November and will continue to evolve over time, offering visitors something new to discover with each visit.

Join us in Civic Square for the reveal and be among the first to experience this exciting new space for local art. 🎨

📍 Cleveland Street and a section of Wellington Street

⚠️ Overnight lane closures and detours will be in place. Southbound traffic will be diverted via the Midland Highway and Howick Street, while northbound lanes will remain open.

Access to nearby medical facilities will be maintained throughout the works. All lanes will reopen to traffic during daytime hours.

⛔️ Partial trail closure: North Esk River Trail

Due to forecast flooding, a section of the North Esk River Trail will be temporarily closed as a precaution from late Saturday morning (5 September), following Park Run.

The closure will affect the trail from just beyond the dog park entrance to Henry Street. Access to the dog park will remain available via the Hoblers Bridge Road entrance while the closure is in place.

We will provide an update once the trail has reopened. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
