ATTN ALL!

Due to a change in weather predictions the first of our winter hazard reduction burns has been brought forward to THIS SATURDAY 27th MAY to begin around 2pm.
I repeat THIS COMING SATURDAY!

As always this hazard reduction burn is done in conjunction with the Landsborough Rural Fire Brigade and will be monitored closely.

The burn area will be a large section of bush land behind the Gowen Drive housing estate and adjacent to little rocky creek. As shown on the map below highlighted in red.

THERE WILL BE A SMOKE HAZE IN THE AREA throughout the burn, into Saturday night and most possibly throughout Sunday.

Again the burn will be monitored closely, and we will patrol the area through the night and Sunday.

Rocky creek campsite is private property and no persons is allowed on the site unless given permission by management. That includes your pets!!!!! It is crucial that no one is to enter the bush campsite area.

Please remember we do these burns to keep everyone safe. It reduces our fire load, irradiates any obnoxious weeds and clears the area for native plants to thrive. All wildlife habitat logs have been highlighted and will not be burnt.

If you have a booking this weekend I will email you directly tonight.

Again this burn is happening THIS SATURDAY AT 2PM.

Attn members:

Rocky creek are in need of some scouting volunteers for a festival the weekend of the 5th - 6th November.
Duties including security and traffic management.
Saturday and Sunday day only.
It's a great fundraising opportunity for the campsite.
Please contact Rachel if your able to lend a hand for any length of time on either day.

ATTN EVERYONE:
There will be a controlled undergrowth burn conducted today at Rocky Creek Scout Camp.
The burn will be conducted in the highlighted areas in the map below. The burn is scheduled to begin around 2.30pm on Wednesday 28th July.

The burn will be done by the management team and the Landsborough Rural fire brigade and monitored by multiple people at all times.

If you have any concerns please contact the campsite directly.

ATTN ALL:

This Tuesday (22nd June 2021) we will be conducting a controlled undergrowth burn to a section of the bushed area of the campsite in accordance to our fire management plan.

There will be a large smoke haze Tuesday afternoon and evening and possibly Wednesday.

This burn will be monitored at all times and is conducted in conjunction with the Landsborough Rural Fire brigade.

The location scheduled to be burn is the fence line boarder running parallel with Old Gympie road, and the section of bush backing against council land/dams between the campsite and Avilka Place/Thompson Road/Strawberry lane. (As roughly shown in the image below)

ATTENTION ALL!!!

We have decided to shut the dam.
This means there is to be NO access across the dam wall IN VEHICLE OR ON FOOT for at least the next 2-4 weeks weather depending on when it can be repaired.
The dam wall structure has been compromised and is slipping away underfoot.
IT IS NOT SAFE FOR ANYONE TO BE WALKING IN THIS AREA!
The area is highlighted in red on the map attached for all. -*Red means no access at all!!*
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTION TO THIS!
This includes all of the neighbours who trespass on our property to walk their dogs (yes, we know you do. Clearly you missed the sign that says ‘Private property - keep out’ And the one that says ‘This area is under electronic surveillance’)

The campsite will remain closed! We will reassess this decision at the beginning of next week depending on the weather.
( Landsborough Scouts section nights can still go ahead, but please check with your section leader or group leader of clarification).

In collaboration with the Australian Government, older primary school aged Scouts are invited to apply for a scholarship to attend the upcoming National Plastics Summit in Canberra. Ten Scouts, together with their parent/carer, will be flown to the national capital and accommodated while they help to discuss solutions to our plastic waste challenge.
