⚠️ Increased Wind Forecast ⚠️

Winds are forecast to increase across the Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council areas today and into tomorrow, with peak gusts expected to exceed 50km/hr tomorrow, combined with warmer temperatures.

These conditions increase the risk of recent pile burns reigniting and escaping, particularly burns conducted over the past few weeks.

🔥 Landholders are urged to:
• Postpone all planned pile burning until conditions ease.
• Regularly check any pile burns conducted in recent weeks.
• Ensure burnt piles are completely extinguished, including checking for heat or smouldering material beneath the surface.
• Continue monitoring old burn sites while strong winds persist.

Remember, fines can apply if you fail to notify the RFS before lighting a fire or if your fire escapes your property.

If you see an unattended fire, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Today, 27 Local Government Areas (LGA) commence their Bush Fire Danger Period, with several areas beginning a month earlier than normal due to the prevailing dry conditions.

Additionally, two LGA's will commence their Bush Fire Danger Period on 14 September, which is two weeks earlier than normal.

Residents and land holders should ensure they understand the rules around the use of fire. Along with required fire permits, you must also notify your local fire authority and neighbours of your intent to burn 24 hours in advance.

Our hearts, love and thoughts go to Lily Hooper and her family. Here is an opportunity to show your support. We thank all rescue personel who all were out looking for Lily, she will be a memory in our hearts for a long time.💐🌹

💜LIGHT UP WILLIS PARK FOR LILY💜

I know our community have been wanting to have some way of showing their love and support for Lily and her family so from 5pm this afternoon and across the weekend, Willis Park at Oakdale will become a place for our community to come together and remember Lily Hooper.

If you would like to, bring some LED lights and/or flowers and help us light up the park for Lily. Lights and flowers can be placed at the front of the park, just behind the fence, so people can come and pay their respects in their own time.

Red Cross volunteers will also be on site to support anyone who may need someone to talk to or a little extra support while they are there.

This is simply a place where we can come together, in our own time and in our own way, to remember Lily and be there for one another. If you don't want to you don’t need to bring anything at all. Come for a few minutes or stay a little longer, leave something in Lily’s memory or simply spend a quiet moment there.

If you are bringing a light, LED lights are preferred and please dont bring any open flames so we can keep the area as safe as possible, and please take care when parking

Heart Safe Wollondilly is a joint initiative between the Wollondilly Business Chamber and Wollondilly Shire Council. Thank you to the Chamber for supplying the device and Council for installing it.

This AED is available for use by the community given our distance to emergency medical services.

Use of an Automated External Defibrillator can significantly improve the odds from sudden cardiac arrest.

The unit can be accessed at all times
