Coliban Group & Kyneton Fire Ready Meeting โ Community Video
We recorded the Fire Ready Meeting held at Kyneton Bushland Resort on Thursday, 29 January 2026, so more people in our community can watch and learn.
The meeting talked about fires that have happened in and around our area. We discussed how fires can spread quickly, how smoke and road closures affect people, and how little time there can be to make decisions.
We also explained simple fire plans that work in real situations. This included when leaving early is safer, when staying becomes dangerous, and how power outages and poor visibility can affect safety.
Emergency warnings were explained in clear terms. We covered what โWatch and Actโ and โEmergency Warningโ mean, and why alerts can change quickly on hot, windy, or stormy days.
This information is important now. It is mid-summer. Fuels are dry. Fire conditions can change fast.
If you live, work, or travel in Kyneton, Malmsbury, Tylden, Pastoria, or nearby bushland areas, please watch the video.
After watching, check your fire plan. Talk about it with your family or household. Make sure everyone knows how you will receive emergency warnings.
Ask yourself: if a fire starts on a hot, windy day, what will you do first? Do you know when you will leave?
Being prepared helps people make safer decisions.
